  In WW2, officers carried pistols, so what some of then did was to carry their M-1 Rifle like a regular G.I. to make them look like one of the men. Carrying a pistol around was like making yourself an easy target for snipers.

  Singapore (peacetime) version: Senior commanders like to wear smart 4's when when outfield ~lol~
