do u get motivated to do better? like during pt when running, u sing u feel u can perform better?
and during route march with fieldpack, do u feel ur load is lessened when the platoon sings tgt?
i find that singing in the army plays a very impt part in the mental aspects.
however, the funny part is that the song gets stuck in ur head n when u go out u cant get it out and i keep singing lol.

Singing also has important physical effects. When you are forced to sing at regular intervals, it forces you to control your breathing and maintain your pace, so you don't hyperventilate. This is especially important for overweight recruits. It is also a good indicator for your buddies, as if you can't sing that means you are overexerting yourself or suffering an injury, then they can voice out to your medic. Many physical trainers at gyms outside will tell you that when you are doing normal brisk walk/jog, a good indicator is that you should be able to carry on a conversation while doing so - if you are breathing so heavily and gasping for air that you can't speak, it means you should take it slower. Singing helps to do this in an army situation.

on our way back, when we took the bus and alighted 1 stop earlier than the supposedly one near SFT, we sang and walked at the same time. cheesy but the songs were stuck in our head. even today, i sing some parts of the song when i feel like it.

sure bring back old memories.
i still remember it was running elephants n donkeys when my platoon walked 8km to our sit test site. the only thing tat kept our spirits high was the singing. we jus sing wadever song tat comes to our mind.
man.... i miss those days.
