izit? they provide such services now? lol. from wat i learnt when i was in NSHRC, nssc encourage ppl to go down and return those stuffs leh.
Dunno. I think I was given a phone number & web address in the letter to contact about settling "admin details". But, yeah, I'll probably return them someday, in lieu of throwing them away. Until then, they have "sentimental value" ~lol~
Quite surprised to learn how premature some of you guys are returning the stuff, actually. Maybe it's cuz of Pes C or with the RSAF or something, assuming there's a formal discharge in the first place.
In my case, my unit had to spend an additional 9 months on Reserve Extended Holding status (no ICT, no IPPT, no mob, but reportable back only in real call-up) after we finished our cycle, while waiting to for an ORD-ing NSF unit to replace us in the ORBAT. Purely bureaucratic move, with the KAHs & IOU cases already recycled on & the rest of us bo-chap.
Thereafter, it's posted on to MR proper under the Army Operational Reserve designation. The two obligations I can think of during this period were retaining our issued equipment & needing to apply exit permits -- although, until recently, we were also required to update MINDEF on overseas notifications (i.e. shorter trips). More speculative was whether the mobilisation codewords were still relevant to those AOR troops, cuz there was no proper briefing on this. Presumably so, but only in a real-war setting.
The true parole from NS liability, with our unit explicitly disbanded & rendered defunct on any MINDEF register, took place when we turned 40 (or 50).
There, I don't think I've revealed any trade secrets either.
