Tmr is 1st sunday of the month already, so there should be a COG tmr at Istana. Anyone here going?
As for the extra bit,
(I can't believe my luck)
I googled for 'officer of the day' and I found the mp3 of it, its in the link below.
http://www.heritageofamericaband.af.mil/recordings/ceremonialmusic.asp
just to inform those who don't know, Officer Of The Day march is played at COG when the two lieutenants from the Old Guard (Pengawan Lama) and New Guard (Pengawan Baru) march up and down their contingents.
They will march in this sequence.
They will first march 4 steps forward, then they will about-face by their LEFT.
Then they march 8 steps forward, then they about-turn by their RIGHT. They will do these '8-steps forward' procedures 10 times including the one mentioned above, with an about-face by the LEFT every alternate procedure.
After which they will march 4 steps and then halt (2 steps). They will then face each other.
Sorry if i wasn't clear. It's very hard to explain without seeing it yourself.
wad time?? i want to see it before i book in, thanks!
and the reason to do the "Officer of the day" drill. The COG starts at 6, but be around 5.50 or so, to get a good view, especially, if u r recording it ...
The reason for the drill is rather unclear.
Traditionally, Officers of the Day are rotated commisioned officers which have been delegated duty from the OC to run as Provost Marshal (MP), in other words guard the establishment.
So my best guess as to why the drill is done would be that the drill signifies the handing over of this 'officer of the day' duty of guarding the Istana from one lieutenant to another.
Any MP Command people to clarify this?
