So that means they're under a different branch of the US Army la... Cos i was watching a documentary on Discovery about Green Berets in Iraq and Afghanistan and they're SF, then i rmbed Delta... Wanted to ask but i forgot about it...

Their budget is allocated by JSOC, not USASOC. -

by the way, how do you get to be a cadre..i remember my WSM got rejected three times to be a ranger cadre...he is also decorated as well...both rangers done and a MWO... -

MC Kok? He was my CSM and we used to call him Mario.
He took over from Tua Chiew as CSM, and unfortunately he had big shoes (and gloves ) to fill. He's a very nice guy, but he never quite commanded the respect of the men.
One of his key problems was the way he saw his job. One thing about him was that he had a very "combat side and service side are separate" mentality, and he bought himself a lot of trouble with that. A lot of the service side guys were my chiong buddies, and I had to smooth things over with them on his account quite often so the job would get done quickly and properly.
As Ninja says, he's a good soldier but not the instructor type - he could execute orders very well, but he struggled a bit when it came to generating orders himself, and that cost him a lot in terms of commands and control. One thing's for sure, he could never shoot arrows properly - when we ROD'd we printed a book covering our entire service, and one of the guys drew a cartoon of Mario ending up with all the arrows he shot. -
And he stammers when under pressure but Ged ,I believe this guy would crawl through a minefield to save the ass of his men if he has to> Former members of the SOF might laugh when they find out that he is still in the SAF but where else could he be?

Don't get me wrong, Ninja. I wholeheartedly agree that he's a top bloke. It's just that his command and control wasn't great, and he had damn bad luck taking over from LTC Ng and Tua Chiew who ran things so smoothly.

I understand exactly what you mean Ged and its perfectly ok to have different opinions here.He may not project a good impression as a leader to many people but I am looking at his soldiering soul and say that I would rather have him in my team then someone who would shoot me in the back when the going gets rough.Originally posted by Gedanken:Don't get me wrong, Ninja.
