  We went taiwan before. My friend's grandma passed away.
  
  S1 said, normally cannot. But with discretion of CO, he could go. So he did.....
  
  Maybe you can bring it up to your S1/G1..

  I guess so. Compassionate leave is only for immediate family.

  My case was my grandfather,nobody know i was away anyway,i only got approval from my immediate superior,i guess it really depend on your immediate superior.
