Hi guys, do downgraded personnel e.g. clerks also have to report with full FBO etc for ops manning? What happens if there is a mission, what do those guys do who is pes C9, pes E etc? Also where do you get "orders" from? Like when you post to a new unit, they send you the paper saying report where at what time on what day and wear what and bring what and talk to who. Is there any kind of thing like that for first time ops manning? All I got was the email asking me to call hotline and acknowledge.

if reservist, just pack fbo lor, then if suay suay ur on activation recall, just go in ur usual nsf clerk gear, with fbo in toll. if need to change, then go toliet change lah.
orders r of cos given by ur immediate superiors, after they r briefed in ops briefings with the upper heads, as since they r key appointment holders, they need to report back earlier as the advance party for briefings and all that etc... -

They'll usually conduct a mob briefing before every manning, even if the session is tagged onto the end of an ICT.
Clerks aren't excused from outfield. Theoretically, someone's gonna do POW management, you know. But I believe no reservist for Pes E's, while C9's stand by for 5 years only. -

My customers there don't understand this army stuff and probably won't accept the excuse if I have to miss a business trip or something. I know for ICT you have to apply for deferment in advance, but for manning can you just overseas notify? Are they going to ask you for documentation to say why you can't be here, or is it ok just to prove you are overseas? Is advance warning necessary e.g. you have to tell them more than 1 month before or something? Sometimes I just have to go off without much warning and stuff like that.

It's best to call up your unit, for confirmation of the latest SOP. In my time, there's no need to apply to "defer" manning at all, but I must separately inform my chief clerk (phone) AND the Mindef Notification Center (phone, SMS, email, mail) if I travel overseas during the mob period. Even more so if you tio recall i/c, so as not to sabo your unit planning.
Yes, you'll be excused from mob activation if you have passport proof of being overseas at the time. But pre-notification itself won't be enough; ditto if you're still here for whatever reason & didn't report. Chargeable offense. -
Thanks Blitz. Sorry, one last question - these days they never stamp passport, always scan, so if they challenge can get the report or whatever from immigration computer to prove it? Or ask them to check some how?

Yes, MINDEF has been using the ICA's EECUS ("Exit-Entry Control Upgraded System") to monitor travelling reservists for a while now. So much so, they did away with the need to physically surrender exit permits upon returning.
But, apparently, the system can only "capture the actual departure & return dates of an individual when he returns from an overseas trip. This means that the individual's overseas trip duration cannot be ascertained at the point of departure. In addition, vital personal details such as overseas trip destination, expected trip duration & contact number are also not captured by EECUS." I dunno how much the new biometric passport can help track movement via EECUS better, if at all. -
Wow, you are very up to date Blitz! So if I understand correctly then, if you notify ahead of time and you are actually gone when you say you will be gone, everything will be smooth and ok? No problems or questioning about how come you leave when we have manning, etc?

Did you attend a mob-briefing? If so, then you should have been given a packing list. Pack all the things stated in the list into your full-pack, and don't forget your ID tag also.

eh realli is go in there take attendance then can go le ar? my 1st time ops manning ma so i dunno anithing. if field pack inside no full item nvm rite since is 1st time.

ya supposedly is take artendance can go but then you have to wait until everybody arrives and wait for them to check the nominal roll which can take quite long. my last manning i went off at 8pm plus plus!!!!!!!

anyway, it depends on the unit commanders and guidance from HHQ. Normally is to take attendance and ensure that all servicemen on standby react and report on time when recalled. Another point is your FBO. Please get the sufficient items in your packs because you can be charged for not bringing the required items. Check with your unit on the items to bring. In NS.SG forum, there are also threads on mobilisation and ICT discussions. Maybe you will like to take a look at them?
Another mob is called tech mob whereby there is deployment i.e. everyone reports, draw weapons and all logistics requirements and move out to set up conc area. This will take the whole of Sat (normally) till sunday morning. Hope that the recall does not include a tech mob.
Some people for their whole life they never get mobilised but some people may get it a few times. So keep your fingers crossed ya???
