communist background

  hi i am 19 this year and will be enlisting next year.
  
  however, i have heard from my father that last time during the emergency period my grandfather was somehow involved in communist activities and it resulted me having with a communist background.
  
  so i would like to know whether during NS i will be restricted to some vocations and it will deter my chances of going to OCS?

  Yes, you're "traceable" if they conduct a cursory security check. But not to worry at all, if you've gone through the S'pore education system. Better yet, if your dad himself had gone it as well as through NS.

  Yeah, there's no final prejudice. I still don't think PRs who went through private or overseas schools are assessed on the same measure as those who attended Govt schools (& thereby "indoctrinated"), though.

  Won't affect lar.....the communist threat is over and invalid, and its two generations back already.
