Unfortunately this is the Army, where patience for insubordination and attitude problematic personnel runs thin. Taxpayers surely do not want the Army to spend other resources doing something else for this boy when the problem is not medically related.
DB is not a form of corporal punishment for him. No caning involved. Its just to wake him up. -

80K for the lawyer, this ass got too much money why not donate the money for the good cause. But I guess, he should not have made the issue so big that it appear in newspaper. It's stupid of him when the MWO tried act as a mediator, he just shrugged it off. If he would have cooled down, I'm sure this issue won't not have gone to court and he will not end up in DB.

I have seen some good lawyers at work fighting for boys against the SAF. Maybe they were formerly MINDEF Legal Officers. They already know the SAF Act and GOM inside out, and furthermore they pit against their juniors. Piece of cake.
Film stars can enage WW, but when it comes to SAF cases, rich mommy should be more sensible and find a 'correct' lawyer.
But anyhow, justice will prevail. If an act of insubordination is done, it cannot be undone.
Serve your time boy, and hopefully, you come out a better person. -

The following was mentioned with the printed version of today's Leong Wee Keat article (but not with the online version):-
NG'S BRUSHES WITH MILITARY LAW
OCT 2006 - Ng refused to return to his bunk when ordered thrice to do so. He also refused to perform the 20 push-ups ordered by a superior. He was fined $500 for each of the two offences.
FEB 2007 - Ng raised his voice & argued aggressively with a superior. He also shrugged off the hand of a person superior in rank. He was dealt seven days' detention for each offence, to be served concurrently, but on yesterday's appeal, was given a reprimand for the second offence.
This means both incidents occurred 15 & 11 months ago, respectively. He was convicted of the second offence last July (DB), & of the first offense last October (fine). He was appealing against the former sentence.
David Boey said he'd enlisted in July 2006 (not Sept -- dunno what happened with the ST article). So it appears he'd first gotten into trouble soon after the end of BMT, after being posted as a service medic during his 4th month of NS.
Bloody hell, he's going inside half a year away from his ORD too. -
