You were doing well in your job. Happy working there and your boss and collegues like you very much.
Than when you go for your 2 weeks reservaists, they get 1 staff and ask you to teach him/her your job scope so that there will still be people who do your job for you when you are not in during the 2 weeks.
Than when you come back from reservaist, you received a notice from them that you got sacked.
Reason is because the staff is able to do your job together with his/her current job scope and so the company don't need you anymore.
Anyone experiened such a situation before?
They need not use "reservist" as an excuse.
Some other excuses like "lower pay required" is sufficient to kick the person out bah.
and they need not sack you immediately after you come back from reservaist. to make it less obvious, they could sack you a few weeks after you come back from reservaist -

So moral of the lesson : Don't teach so much or else prepare to get replaced. Simple.
When people ask me to teach newcomers - I just teach the basics - they don't know something - I do it for them but never teach. Don't even let them look at how I do it. It is only until I leave for another job then I teach the fella abit more . -

A lot will be busy packing up when explosions occur and buildings start to collapse
No telecommunication so they cannot reach me first target of enemies will be take out all communications
So still dispatch people to find me rather than sending them to frontline? -

Reservist should be on volunteer basis
But with lots of carrots attached like TAX exemption from a lot of tax free medical care
Last minute scenario where to find soldiers that will report back to their camps where explosions and mass death already occur?
Still remembers my reservist RSM where he volunteered to stay on although he already on MR list -
Companies got to watch their bottomline too. If reservist training affects the quota, its better for both the reservist and the company, if the company did not have this employee.
Otherwise, the reservist will find it dmoralising, and the company, in keeping the employee, goes into the red, close shop and affect all the other employees in the company. -

I can understand it from the corporate point of view though. This is a problem that Singaporean males face, and it's kinda harsh. :\
If you are looking out for justice to be done in your case, maybe you can just call up the related ministry (MinDef or MOM) and enquire about it.
Of course on the surface, everyone says to support reservist but as in anything in life...its the real world that counts man....so frankly being a male here is a disadvantage already....best thing for that male to do is to join a GLC or some ST company....that way for sure cannot get the sack cause its gahmen company -
