i just went to hospital for my cold and fever den when i see the slip,my Bp is 157/71.my mum say tat 1 consider hypertension and she call me to go camp and tell mo.does 157/71 consider high ma?i sometimes felt breathless and had chest pain so i kinda worried.my vocation is infantry rifleman but i nt trying to keng...juz worried about my health nia.
i heard my fren say if go mo and check really hbp den ooc straight away...so serious 1 ah.i going brunei next month lei...sian i dun wish to kanna post out,love my platoon >< -

It is possible to have a high BP reading when you are exited or anxious. Try visiting your GP or use a electronic reader to get another reading or two.

Your systolic pressure is high, but the diastolic one is not.
I agree that blood pressure can rise "artificially" & quite manipulatable as a aresult, as if obtaining consistent readings weren't problematic enough. Accurate readings can also be hard: I bet your medic's measurement will be different from your MO's down at the medical center, let alone tally with your private doctor's (with his better equipment).
But do trust your MO; you'll have to go through him officially anyway. If you lack confidence or fear getting scolded for malingering, persuade a medic to take your blood pressure first, or try reporting sick on a more switched-off day.
You can see a GP outside before endorsing with the unit, except I'm not sure the civilian doc can reach a verdict without extended testing. Whichever the medical expert, they'll need time to confirm your condition. But, even if the GP says he's only monitoring your case, your MO may defer to him & cut you the slack you otherwise might not have received (if you'd sought the MO out directly). Hard to say which method is best, everyone is different .....but don't play with your life; it's not about medical downgrading per se now. -

From what I understand, most person is deemed to have High blood pressure (HBP) if the blood pressure is consistently high over a period of time. A lot of things may caused blood pressure to be raised temporary, for example being excited, nervous, exercise, sex or some form of illness may cause blood pressure to rise. Even the lack of sleep may raise blood pressure. Flu and fever are some of the things that might cause blood pressure to raise but if after you recovered from it and your blood pressure remains high, then you might really have HBP. Most doctors will not rush to prescribe HBP medicine once they got a HBP reading, more likely they would ask you to return on a later date to take the blood pressure again. Only after a period of time of high readings, how long is something for the doctor to decide, HBP may be diagnosed. So better leave it to the trained doctor to decide if you have HBP than to self conclude of having it.

Hmm... I'm not too sure about normal unit medical centres, but anyway. the MO can order a 24 hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring to record your BP.
btw ABP doesn't require you to be bound to the bed for one full day. Don't even think of it. You'll carry this monitor with you with the BP cuff wrapped onto your arm for one whole day. -
157 is v high..
an average person is abt 130/80 if im not wrong. -

the camp mo will at best refer u to hospital, then the specialist there ask u to wear the 24hr monitoring device for 1 or 2 days, thereafter u go back review, then specialist write a memo to ur camp mo for further instructions. e.g. give u some medicine e.g. atenodol (available in most camp medical centres), and/or likely to be pending downgrade to at most common pes c2 range.
atenolol = for the management of hypertention and long-term management of patients with angina pectoris. -
