This thread is not an outlet for a flame war! How the heck did something so trivial become so totally screwed up?
If u are a scholar, fine. Farmer, fine. U serve as whatever vocation, just be happy with it. Stop all these quarelling and just answer what other forumers have to ask.

Well it's obvious who stared the flame right?
Maybe I am wrong by adding fuel to the fire. But hey, everyone has a time when their adrenaline gets the better of them.
Yea well his screen name kinda says it all doesnt it. Gloater. What more do ya expect? Anyway let's just forget about this and move on.
To butterfries: U got any news of where ur bf go yet? Cos from what I know, if ur bf was posted to Sierra wing from the start, then he should not be able to transfer out. I might be wrong, but my fren who is currently the same OCS batch as ur bf was transferred over to Sierra wing today from the 'holding wing'. And he said that only the 'holding wing' ppl are able to transfer out to air wing or mids. I dunno whether I misinterpreted it or not.
Hello. I'll be leaving for my airgrading pretty soon. Anyone here's been there already? I could really use some advice. Anyone able to offer me advice please leave me a PM? I will be really grateful =)

That's actually not entirely true, at least in the case for my batch.
In my batch, the 'holding wing' was Echo Wing. Sierra Wing is a support arms/female wing. There are quite a number of NSFs who got transferred from Sierra to Air/Mids Wing after the first 2 weeks (CLM).
Not too sure about now though.
please don't quarrel because of this eh.
my boyfriend has decided not to wait for air force anymore because they're taking too long. he did express interest for signals back in bmt because he has a relevant diploma, and went for the interview and passed. instead of letting it pass and waiting for wso c3, he has taken up the offer for signals officer.
as to whether i am the kind that "can't make it big in life" or "smart and intelligent", i decline to comment. after all, i'm not someone that aspires to be a career woman so i don't take to offense whatever whoever has said (i don't know if its the truth or not, i don't go and check on all these)... so.. yeah. surely i'll look a bit stupid while asking info on the RSAF, because i'm not in it myself. but it's alright, at least i gained some knowledge on RSAF. it's still interesting to know! =D
it's okay lah. dont quarrel already. whatever it is, thank you teraexa and everyone else for giving me your input. =D

haha! i can't help but kind of agree. but honestly, teraexa has been helpful to me and all those who will need future information on RSAF.
:)

It's stories like this that makes me wonder why RSAF is in desperate need of regulars when people like your bf is being turned away at the doorstep.
In any case, all the best in his career as a Signals officer. Signals officer or WSO(C3), both are just officers of the SAF and they will have to do their relevant roles in the defense of this little island.
hey all, have anyone go for PILOT AND UAV COMPASS TEST before?
i wonder what's the different, as i'm taking UAV one this time round. didn't make it for Pilot =(

UAV's one is supposed to have a component where they give u a satellite image and ask u to find ur way back to ur base based on looking straight down. That's what my batch mate said at least.
Hi got a question. For pilots who want to go to a private university here like unisim or go overseas university, would they have to pay the full fees themselves or would rsaf sponsor a bit? Cos last time I thought I heard someone say that they will sponsor u the amt that the corresponding course in NUS or NTU costs. Is this true? And also I suppose if u take a study leave here u wont be getting any pay at all right?

i wanna noe if i’m gonna paid in australia?
If RSAF send you there, of cos you going to get paid.

Cease embarrassing yourself..how malu.. You have the shame to say others that you can never live up to have 'no leadership quality' and who has?! YOU?
There ARE people who have everything. Just because you haven't met them because they are out of your league, doesn't mean that they don't exist. Have you met Warren Buffett or John Lennon in person? Does it mean that they never existed? What numbnuts. Don't sound like you begin to have an inkling about the system when you're not close by to view it. I highly doubt you even went to OCS, let alone have a 'dream' of how leaders are selected. What a joke.

Well, did you pass out from OCS? I never did. You must have the memory of a tadpole. That doesnt mean i dont have the right to put my 2 cents. Yes there are a few leaders in SAF who possess both education and leadership. However from my point of view as a former specialist in the Army, i seen officers and specialists that failed to meet the standards of leaders. I am not too good myself, but hey, at least i dont sign on and milk the citizens of their money while i slack at my job. So generally, when the majority fail. i will generalise, like every other people.
Oh yeah, i met people of calibre, most of them however, are in the public sector. They prove themselves to be capable of leading in the fast pace and high intense private sector and not hiding under the protection of the Civil Service and its bureaucracy.
Stop going around posts and spout your agenda. You might have connections, bla bla. bla. That doesnt impress me at all.
Wait, you replyed from a April post? Wow you sure do take alot of time to think of a suitable reply. I am so honoured. Maybe i can get you a fake sword? He Man or Power Ranger?

Back To Original Topic!
You think too highly of yourself. You're really in no position to attract my desire to impress. In fact, it won't happen in this lifetime of yours and even if you get reincarnated, the next few.
I don't think its classified, there are at least 35,000 regular specialists and officers. I know and have seen a lot of them that are screwed up. And no, they are not educated either. I don't think you're aware of what I am talking about, nor the league of which. I only have an agenda, as much as you have one. All I did was to call you out about your claims on leadership, education and armed forces. Did you go to OCS? no. Did you go to D coy? no. Did you go to US army/air force? no. If you never had the room of the view, you just sound stupid talking out of your arse about the scenery. Just like someone by the handle of LL. Ha!

So, may i ask, if u actually went to OCS, my dear friend???
Originally posted by gd4u:So, may i ask, if u actually went to OCS, my dear friend???
A more critical question you must ask yourself, which answers your question to me, is 'Did gloaterback pass judgment on what he cannot be?' And after that, replace my handle with your name and ask yourself that.
oh almost forgot to answer your question: Yes i did, just didn't pass out thats all.
"Did gloaterback pass judgment on what he
cannot be?"
Am I safe to say that the critical answer would be a YES?
But still, I wonder what did you actually did or is still doing for you to make that brave claim "If you never had the room of the view,
you just sound stupid talking out of your arse about the scenery". Chances are, you are probably in the same situation.
My lowly rank made me know that our scholarly officers can plan untill perfect. But, what happens on the ground can be another total issue. The worse is failling to understand feelings on the ground. Talk is cheap, the officer can say all he wants. But getting the respect is another thing. I too had my fair share of planning stuff and getting my hands dirty at the same time.
I would agree that our paper generals has all the brains they have to succeed. However, that is not just enough. They would still need the skills and diplomacy to balance men's morale and command respect.
With that, nothing will hold water here if my answer to your question is wrong.

Nope, never did think highly of meself. Never went OCS, never went D Coy or was it D wing? You know better. Hell i never even stepped into the OCS cafeteria. My own goal in NS was to finish it. Never wanted to go SISPEC, but i finished it. The military assigned me there and i do it to my maximum capability.
The best leadership i know in NS was from my CSM, a Sec 2 drop out hokkien peng who did whatever we did, and then some more. Not like some Regular Capts or LTA who can barely pass IPPT or even complete a Life run. But can decide which men can book out or not by looking at the men's IPPT results.
Leadership? I dont know much about it, but as a ground soldier who have to lead 6 other men who defintely doesnt want to be there, i sure know who i want to follow and who i will tell to fuck off. What did you said you did again? MINDEF clerk? Thats sure gives you a clear objective and view on whats happeining in ground level.

So you drop out, or didnt meet standards. No shame in that, the training is not for all. But you talk machiam you Sword Of Honor winner. Or some big time "champion"
Whatever, do what you like

I'm glad you never went to OCS. Did I accuse you of wanting to go there? Like I said once before, and unfortunately I'm forced to repeat, I called you out on your claims of education, leadership and the armed forces. I never disputed or claimed you badly wanted to go to OCS, so why keep assuring me you never did? What a waste of my time. I called you out on your claims of leadership and education, if you have never been to leadership school, let alone experience, ok that's asking for too much, let alone saw the process by which the organisation moulds the people it deems it leaders, you are not qualified to talk about this process. Thats what I called you out on. An analogy: If you didn't go to medical school, talking all day long and making judgments about the best surgeons is making only one person look silly and it's not anyone you talk about. It's you.
And make no mistake, there are many officers, both regulars and NSF. Few are educated (by my standards). I don't even feel majority of them exhibit good leadership skills, but it just sucks balls that these shitty officers are often the same majority in the officer corp who aren't educated.
On your next point, I know the presence of many fit CSM or RSM or what have you, be they hokkien peng or not. I also know of OC and CO who run marathons across deserts, across the island, never fail to get IPPT gold and year on year turn out SOC timings that make any hokkien peng CPL weep. What I said to you earlier stands. You were just too thick to understand. What you haven't got to see, does not mean it doesn't exist. To the people who have seen and know better, once again you just look stupid.
Your final quote though was what made me LOL, truly brightened up my night. It's amazing how much in denial anyone can be. You said: "But you talk machiam you Sword Of Honor winner. Or some big time "champion"
I have never once boasted about my military prowess. It's people like YOU, who have not produced anything to claim that you have attained any remote benchmarks of leadership who yak all day long about leaders who require the remark that came from your own mouth above. Look into the mirror tonight and tell yourself your own line: "you talk machiam you Sword Of Honor winner. Or some big time "champion". Yes, the line you spouted out of your mouth was really customised for you. How ironic.
Leaders you don't know and have never met, but for the unfortunate fact that they have lots of other things you don't have like brains and qualifications, that incurred your sour graped wrath.
That was the whole crux of the tragedy. And what I called you out for.

Don't misunderstand. Most of the officers corp are not educated.

Still, I am surprised by how you glorify yourself through connections. Granted, connections are everything so just blare all you've got. People here can judge.
As for my comments about people from poly, I guess it's the exception-vs-mean issue all over again.
Please pardon me. After all, I am not from a scholarly genetic lineage. Too bad that I happen to be the first in my family to be in JC. You may like to ask why I am insulting my own family members from poly. What I said is what they told me. So if you think that you, a jc 'air-level' kia, know better about poly people compared to poly grads themselves, so be it.
The world will hand down the ultimate judgement on your place in society. It's not for a farmer-to-be like me to do so.
Might as well, I don't want to dirty my hands.
You are the first person in your family to go to JC and you made those remarks about poly students? I haven't seen this thread since the last conversation until tonight. Amazing! You're really suited to be a farmer-to-be!
Ok fine, you win. Just let me know when the officer corps give you a letter of commendation for your courage and bravery for defending their honour. Or justification for them to slack and not use critical thinking and use their "me is occifer, therefore me is right" attitude.
My statements are based on what i see on the field, which i spend 2 years of my glorious youth, with kids from various upbringing and education struggling to cope with the job they do not want. i also saw officers who are too dumb to make decisions yet rolled their eyes when the platoon sergeant or section commanders try to help him to make it. I saw my PC insisting on a frontal assault in spite of the comments of my PS, that the situation has changed and he could not follow as per planned before. The result is 75% casualty for my platoon.. And we havent even breached the wire. Not bad considering its TES and i get to lie down and rest instead of doing leap and bounds. I hear grumblings of soldiers when the leadership makes mistakes, and waste their time and energy doing things twice or thrice. Yet the same people entrusted with this leadership do not have the moral courage to even apologise for their errors.
Oops, sorry my words means nothing to you cause you lead a desk of pencils and pens. Yeah, you guess it, i have a chip on my shoulder. And it wont get any smaller considering the same idiot PC is still my PC in reservist.
That was the whole crux of the tragedy. And what I called you out for.
Nah, the real tragedy is why the military decision makers didnt make you an officer, you obvious have all the data you need to decide who is best and who is not.
Not hijacking the thread anymore, its an RSAF thread for god sake.
