One good thing abt signing on as career soldier is that girls love the uniform. You will attract lots of women with army uniform fetish
Hi TS, please ignore all those demeaning comments towards you and your interest in signing on as a career soldier, you have the rights to do what you want and decide what you want in your life, don't get discouraged because of those little petite comments made by some of them here. However TS, I do agree with what fudgester has to say, get a taste of BMT life first before even considering putting pen to paper. Because i've heard of too many cases of people wanting to sign on just for the sake of money and pride and then regretting afterwards having noticed that they will be stucked wearing a greenshirt almost everyday for the next 5-10 years or so. Sign on only after you really experienced the first 1 year as a soldier that means to have gone through BMT first follow by OCS and really like being a soldier, not just because of the pay. Nonetheless during your courses you will be brainwashed into signing on and why you must fight and defend Singapore. Don't get psycho easily and please do think if you're really prepared to burn many weekends and stay in during weekdays for a few years to come.
Since you have said to have an open mind, then do please open to the concept u might just end up as a Spec or a chow CPL/LCP/PTE in every thinkable vocation from Ops to messboy. To enlist with a pre-concept of "I will enter OCS" is not healthy in my opinion.

Hmm.. Such combat units have important things to do in offices.. Hey man, this is the military. All sorts of things are possible, just that no one speaks of much of it..
