hey guys, i juz fail my pilot interview but the recruitment officer ask mi to get into OCS and reapply again and he will consider my application. i juz wana whether do i still stand a chance coz if not i'll juz gif up on this career path and seek for other alternatives. hope to get many enlightening posts soon!

You really need to calm down first.
The officer already said you have another shot. Nothing is set as yet. Just look forward to your BMT.
I've have a friend suffering the same fate, almost. The board feels that he might not enjoy military life, thats why they asked him to return before the board again after BMT. The second interview did happen, and they were right, my friend isn't really into military life, even though he qualified for OCS.

huh? my case now is abt the yfc records leh! how they noe tt your fren is not into military life? they cant possibly noe unless he said tt himself. so u r trying to say tt ur fren was not interested during the 2nd interview? i juz graduated from S'pore Poly.

How come they so fast tell you you fail the interview? Usually takes a few days to a few weeks to get their replies.

No, during the first interview, hes all-out to become a combat pilot. But somehow the board judged that through the interview, they feel that he might not really be those that will enjoy a military career.
And yes, during his 2nd interview, which is after BMT, and when asked again, he said no.
Also, records or no records, its about how you present yourself, how you defend allegations against you, and how you prove your worth during the interview. -
yeah! i agree with that! i guess i didnt defend well against allegations against mi! wat to do? i juz have to pray hard now but i juz cant stop tinking abt how i spurn such a glorious opportunity to get selected. vincent, r u a pilot?

being a pilot isn't glorious lor...its juz a job. glorious is for SOF and CDO who endured lots of shit.

I think its all personal. Some feel that being this is glorious, some do not. Some feel that being that is stupid, some do not. Something not our comments can correct.

:) Dude, the first thing to do is relax. Failing one interview is not the end of the world, and the interview board even thought that you might have a chance once you are more seasoned with military life. If you really want to fly, get into OCS and reapply. You never know, it might be the exact same officer who handles your case again.
Anyway, if all you are concerned about is the money, no point going into the military. You got your YFC, just serve your ns and sign on with SIA or some other airline lah. It's not like elite forces in other countries get paid very highly either--unless they sell themselves to Blackwater or other PMCs :P

i truly wana fly with the air force regardless of the pay and benefits. i'm not reali sure if its the board's decision to ask mi to get into OCS 1st before reapplying again coz the recruitment officer hu is not part of the board but present during the interview juz came out and tel mi abt it, so i can b 100% sure its the board's decision to let mi hav sorta a 2nd chance.
but edwin, SIA is even harder to get in with all the countless interviews, some more onli uni grads got a higher chance to get in leh! i tink YFC is not an advantage but a downfall of my interview...

Just my 2 cents, ask yourself whats your motivation to sign-on. Is it the money, the glamour of the job, the girls that will throw themselves at you, the free food and clothing or simply cuz u love to fly, and would gladly fly for free.
I myself wish to sign-on as a Armoured or Guards officer. Cuz its my interest and also, since young I've always been interested in the military. And its in recent years that I've been exposed to things such as strategies and tactics from the ancient world till date.Why Armour or Guards, its because they are the cavalry of the army. So yes...that's my motivation. -

I believe CDO and officers who are Rangers get the true glory.
A lot of army friends say that the local NDU got false glorification because people tend to associate NDU with the US Navy Seal, but the local NDU is nothing like it in terms of actual ops. -

There are plenty of non grads SIA pilots but do note that airline pilots are paid worse than a monkey during the initial years, and you don't get to really fly a plane since you're flying on autopilot 99% of the time, so it's really a wuss's job. I have heard many girls say.

Well... good perfomance would definitely be a plus for your re-application to join air force as a pilot but... do you think that transfers in the service is that easy??? Most probably you would be stucked in a position that you would not like...

i can definitely say i like flying a lot and has set my sights on a career with RSAF. its the interview today tt i feel i said something wrongly and they started to bombard mi with qns abt my days in yfc. my last sortie was a complicated one and was unable to make to 1st solo. i feel just i wasted this chance and its damn sayang la. tt recruitment officer ask mi to get into OCS and re-apply again, i dun even noe wat he means by tt. how can i hav gd performance in OCS so as to reapply? coz he say get into OCS and reapply so i assume tt if i'm posted to OCS den i will reapply immediately?
