hey i read from some forum tt everybody needs to go SISPEC 1st and then potential OCS candidates will be selected from SISPEC. is it stil applicable coz the forum post was dated 2005 so i tot whether this protocol is still in use or has changed? care to share anyone?
no la, most officer cadets are posted to ocs straight from tekong.
Never heard of such a thing.
oic...thx for that. damn worried abt getting into OCS coz i nid to be selected for tt in order to apply again for pilot vocation due to failure in clearing interview last wk. u all heard of any cases where people fail interview and offer another 2nd chance?
kengkia, since when? cdo was told by the RO tt he wld haf his application reconsidered if he got into OCS.
and yes, from sispec the top few will be selected to convert to officers. but most cadets come straight from bmt.
yeah...i was told by RO to reapply for pilot if i get into OCS. huh? got this clause meh? since when sia? i din even noe abt it...

when u go bmt u super on and tell everyone u wan be officer... declare it out... try again lo..
the prob is i duno whether is there such a scenario where people are given a 2nd chance to pass the pilot interview or izit fail any selection test in the process and you can say sayonara to your pilot career. i'm only assured by the words of the RO...
u cant try again if u fail compass for sure. and pls dun be siao on in bmt and declare to the world u wanna go ocs. ppl will call u "ocs"...or other stupid names relating to ocs. haha! just be humble and be tactful. ppl need help, give. dun cock up, dun be a blur cock and dun sarbo ppl. and technically, whatever they teach u, you also must do well in it la.
I even know someone whom gg to ORD from NDU that got into Pilot...and now is a LTC (not Lieutenant Colonel but Long Term Cadet)...u say leh?

dun worry, my friend flunk the first interview, went sispec, cross over to OCS, applied, now happily in australia lol. serious, dun give up till the end.
As far as I know, back in 2005 there were plans that there will be no OCS intake direct from BMT.
I am not too sure if that is implemented.
And as far as I know, it is not practical to do such an arrangement.
They shorten NS, and then they make SISPEC a requirement before OCS? I can see it now - attend a weekend course and become an ossifer!

yeah its not possible for SAF to select ppl to go for OCS thru SISPEC only cuz simply no time. haha! well, sometimes tis is how things gotta be done. the most sian part is u wanna do sth, yet u can't because u are not qualified for it. i noe of ppl from ITE who wanna be officers, but they juz cant. damn sad.

My friend whu is a pilot trainee have a batch mate who is also a 3SG gds man and ord already. If this gds man fail his OCS, he will leave the force immediately. LOL!
My friend said usually pilot need to wait very long; average 6 months to 1 year to start training as a pilot. Some will become long term cadet while others will have other vocation 1st. So don't worry about getting into OCS, even if a guy who ORD and is a 3SG can be a pilot, why not you.
as far as i know, the top 5 in sispec will be selected for OCS training.
for those in the enhanced batch, crossing over will require you to serve that extra 2 months more.
which means you serve a total of 2 years instead of 1 year 10 months.
and yes they still do take people straight into OCS after you finish BMT
lastly all the best to you
i really do hope you manage to become a pilot at the end.
ocs is ocs. sispec is sispec. never heard of such thing before.
but did it used to be that SISPEC is a path that has to be gone through before going OCS, then after dunno-which-year they changed this ruling.. any laojiaos can confirm there used to be such a directive?

yes there was some hearsay but how true i dont know. i personally do not know anyone so cant confirm. i also heard some regulars (WOs) could convert to commissioned officers also. but i find it a disgrace to ocs.

WOs converting to commisioned officers, can't really say is a disgrace la.. It will look weird to be a 2LT at such an old age la.. but with their years of experience, will do good to the commisioned officers league la... Just that.. Imagine commanding such a high salary as a WO, suddenly your pay drop to that of a junior commisioned officer, so seldom will have WO who will choose that path la..
and yea, i heard the hearsay abt the SISPEC then OCS path so that's y i was mentioning it.. maybe TS heard the same hearsay too so that's y he's asking?

i find if you were chosen for sispec, whats wrong finishing up the course and pass out as a spec. do your best who knows can get the gold bayonet. in the 1st place surely there is a reason why that person was not chosen for ocs.

hmm... gd qns.. maybe that's OCS' way of getting good people for being officers la.. maybe BMT missed out on some people, you got to admit that with so many people wayang-ing back at Tekong, its inevitable that 1 or 2 doesnt shine..
Then these few people who do-well-but-doesnt-shine, their commanders feel they should at least deserve a place in SISPEC.. That's y OCS selection still goes on in SISPEC..
