but i thought that rifleman was for those with a lower education level??
So you have a diploma .....
and your GPA is above average .....
so ? .... to good to be a rifleman ? .... too good to be a trooper, must be an officer or a spec issit ?
if you're wondering why at all .... look at your posts, you'll find the answer there .... you bring this kind of attitude to your unit, you're asking for a blanket party ...

If you say that your diploma does not make you big f***, then why even bother telling us your GPA?
A friend of mine was an A Level dude.... and he became a rifleman in 5 SIR. Went on to NUS after that.
Just do your work, make the best out of your experience, and ORD in peace.
just in case the actual results of the poly matters when they decide your posting.

I can truthfully say this: NO. And I say this from experience.
Come on lah.... I myself was an A Level dude.... and I became a platoon medic. At a SIR unit as well.
You know what's a platoon medic? He's basically a rifleman with an armband and an extra-heavy FBO. You don't believe me? When you get posted to your platoon, you observe what your platoon medic does, then you get back to us, okay?
So shut your whining and start defending your country. You show this kind of attitude to your platoon mates... good luck to you.
reminds me of one of my men during unit days.
He did bmt in tekong, then posted to 5SIR as a rifleman. He had excellent A level result, planning to study architecture after ORD.
After posted to my company in 5SIR, he started complaining this and that, saying he's too good to be a rifleman. We got fed up with him...eventually put him to be armskote assistant. And he got abused by the whole company :p

my medic is always nua one, cos supprt arms company mah.. and medic is support of support arms, so he can afford to be more nua, and basically watch us poke for mines through the night.
guys, i am not saying i am too good for rifleman or anything.
you see, in my mind, i was all prepared to be posted to signals instead..
i just wanted to find out if there's a reason why i am being posted to SIR instead. no offence at all. :(

Signals also train manpack signallers...and these manpack signallers get posted out to infantry, armour and even guards after their training.
Manpack signaller is rifleman but carry manpack radio plus your FBO too, wanna still be signaller? If got route march, they march too, field camp, also go.Attack mission?Chiong lah.
If you had gone through the IC2(Manpack) course at signal institute and get posted out to 4 SIR or any of the other SIRs or even armour or guards, would you still be complaining?

Chao pte nia still ask so much.
really, TS needs to be beaten up by hokkien pengs. hahahahhaa.

Another sentence that gave me the creeps ...

this is what i feel, may not be true: any vocation that has empty slots will be filled up by eligible soldiers. Performance both in and out of BMT counts for nuts, they will post you to whatever units that require manpower. To me, eligibility is more than performance, i feel that human psyche and family background(security clearance) is more impt in determining who gets into which formation/vocation. Basically, its luck, where you get posted to, after you've met the eligibility criteria. I also feel CMPB's computer aptitude test play an impt part.
Since your posting order states RIFLEMAN, i guess you got no chance to join support company liao, cos the vocation/job scope of support coy is more in-depth than being labelled as RIFLEMAN. It's true to an extent that support coy only takes in Tekong's PTEs. Maybe SIR got ppl OOC from their own BMT, that's why you are selected(you might think that you are unlucky?) to fill up the hole. That's the only logical explanation.
well, army is about meeting people with diverse background. you will learn more about the army as you go along :)
please take care!!
