Full-time NSman collapsed and died after training activity
SINGAPORE: A 20-year-old National Serviceman died during training on Tuesday morning.
Private (PTE) Joe Foo Wei Rong was doing chin-ups when he collapsed at Lim Chu Kang Camp at 6.05am.
Medical staff were not able to resuscitate him on the spot.
He was then first brought to Tengah Medical Centre, and subsequently to
the National University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at
8.28am.
The cause of death is unknown and the Ministry of Defence is investigating.
Private Foo was a full-time National Serviceman from the 4th Battalion, Singapore Infantry Regiment.
Mindef and SAF have also extended their condolences to Private Foo's family.
The incident is the first to have occurred during a basic exercise routine.
But Private Foo is the third NSman to have died during army training this year.
Recruit Andrew Cheah died after fainting during a 2-kilometre walk at Pulau Tekong on June 10.
Officer Cadet Clifton Lam died during jungle training in Brunei on June 11.
not again......when they will ever wake up their blardy ideas?!
Poh Ah Pak, are you Singaporean? Surely you know the difference between NSF and NSMan....?
haha shotgun cut him some slack la...
NSF(Full-Time National Service)-u serve two years of hell straight in ASS A FF...
Nsmen-u serve 7 cycles if high key and 3 low keys of reservist...this occurs after ORD form NSF status...
Sometimes, I wonder if there are people here stirring that are acting on behalf of vested interests of foreign governments. Its just a thought.
NSman can also refer to any serviceman in short
Hmmm... I do believe the more common term is NSF. NSMan usually refers to Operationally Ready National Servicemen.
Oh well, I guess we all do learn something everyday.
