Madrasah Also Do NS

I'm gonna edit my post here due to certain misunderstandings. Is it reallie true that male Singaporeans who undergo full-time madrasah education through secondary, tertiary and university level are given a choice in joining NS? That they are given the option to exempt or include themselves from National Service. Personally, being a proponent of NS, I believe that NS should also be compulsory for them all. Besides, NS can only be beneficial for them and as for the madrasah students who actually opt into NS despite given the choice not to; an admirable act indeed. Also, I would like to know the reasons why some of them opt out, of course, besides the 2-long-years reason and reservist which are universal. Personally, I dun feel that it's fair that the rest of us have to do NS while they are let off scott-free. As a Singaporean, I am proud to serve my NS (december 2008 enlistment), but am disappointed that some of us, who are not physically or mentally handicapped, are excused from such duties.

Of course, if someone can help me debunk this, will make me feel a lot better. http://www.melayu.sg/forum/index.php?topic=2537.0 Well, I have seen graduates from Al-Azhar comin back to Singapore who don't have to do their National Service and I jus asked my sister; the madrasah boys don't have to go NS unless they opt to do NS. Syiok sia can choose, but it does explain Master's madrasah friend. Glad to know he chose to serve NS. Though, I still think it shoud be compulsory for them all.

what a weird definition. I would expect something like singaporeans who follow the madrasah religion, than will have controversy.

"full-time catholic students in Singapore" who's nationality is china also no need serve NS

cos if they never serve NS is because they are foreigners, than can understand. not because they are madrasah.
people who refuse to serve NS will go to jail. just in case some joker try to convert to this religion and play punk.

sorie I say wrong, they are Singaporeans. went through madrasah secondary school, through tertiary to university. then they are given a choice to serve NS or not. Lyk u guys, I dun believe lah at first. Unlike the Jehovah guys, they are not conscientious objectors. They're just given the choice to opt into National Service. But I still not 100% sure. Tryin' to source out MINDEF.

instead of sourcing for mindef, think is easier to source for people who are exempted solely on religious reasons.
they probably don't exist, cos a bunch of them who refuse to serve NS is in jail.

the reason why u may think otherwise is that there are so little guys being madrasah-educated...not all continue their education in madrasahs..some guys go to poly after their secondary school education in a madrasah

What happens if you went to an overseas Madrasah in terror hotspots like Iraq, Pakistan and Iran?

you still serve NS. they will put you in less sensitive areas, or maybe civil defence.

simple. post on stomp and complain to MP.
they will rectify the problem.
the system is not perfect, and they do lose track of people some times. Also, it is always someone's friend or cousin, and not someone you know personally. So use the superpower of singaporeans to rectify...

hmm.. "never" is a very relative term leh.. How old is your friend's cousin now? He'll probably get it later? We'll never know.. -

so many of them go to Al-Azhar in Egypt. i know of 2 who are graduating next year, they went through NS

The friend who told me i met him during my BMT, his cousin is 2 years old than him (i.e. 21 years old) When i ORD with my friend, the cousin still have not enlisted. -
