1. What do you want to sign on as?
2. Why do you want to sign on?
3. Have you already enlisted and done your BMT?

I just added question (3).
Now, what kind of officer, what kind of vocation, and have you done your BMT?
Then in that case, find out more about all the possible vocations there are.
Also, go and enlist in BMT first before making any decision to sign on. You can get all the advice you want, you can get all the information you want, but nothing beats having a small taste of life in the SAF to help you decide.
Also, the desire for job stability and a good wage should be far, far down your list of reasons for wanting to sign on. You should only sign on because you actually enjoy life in the SAF.
Which goes back to why you should enlist first before making any decision.

Furthermore, if I was to further my studies in a overseas uni after my NS, would the SAF pay for my course fees? What about allowance?
sign on for the sake of passion for army, not for a sugar daddy just for some money for further studies... n to compensate mindef for the sponsorship, u r bonded for some years...
working for a job just for the money with no passion is equal to marrying a wife u dont like but she is rich so she can support u n u just be a house husband.
IIRC, even if u sign on, u can only go for university studies after the minimum 2 years NSF period.

whether the flame of passion is ignited or extinguished depends on REAL army experience in BMT...
any NCC in secondary school is only childplay experience... what? at most teachers take u go play paintball game nia...
and NS is definitely not ur counterstrike game...
Sign on AFTER BMT. So you'll at least get a taste of the army life. Even if you do still wanna sign on after experiencing what the army has to offer, I suggest something that doesn't involve that much chionging like MP or Medic. If you do still want to chiong as a regular, Guards ftw! 30 points IPPT? Maybe would improve your chances. 2.4 timing? Also, fitness is not everything.

yup, even if u sign the officer contract, if after BMT, u r not posted to OCS... the contract is null and thus, void...
you need to pass your bmt (SOC, IPPT, range....). the rest of the stuff is not that bad, but if you don't pass your bmt, no way they can help you get into ocs.
