Is there any effective way to prevent blisters during route march?
(Other than wearing 2 pairs of socks, applying foot powder, etc)
There are 3 main ways to prevent blisters on your feet. I will divide them into the expensive ways and the cheap ways.
1) Use tape:
Expensive: Buy moleskin or any form of 2nd skin type of tapes. Failing which, use leukoplast.
Cheap: Use black tape. Quite good.
2) Good socks:
Expensive: Fox River from Campers Corner near City Hall. Wigwam from military shops such as Sheares Technologies on Selegie Road. Thorlos from World of Sports. These socks have good moisture wicking ability and are damn damn comfortable. I've never gotten any abrasions or blisters with these pairs no matter how far the marches were.
Cheap: Buy any nice, thick pair of socks that are synthetic. Cotton and other natural fibres are NO NO. Don't be fooled by what the beach road ppl tell you.
3) Good boots:
Expensive: Get a pair of Black Hawks from Sheares. ($300 lol)
Cheap: Get Goretex, or just use a pair of very well-seasoned rubber boots.
For abrasions on other parts:
Groin: Use tights, or don't wear anything
Anywhere else: Use black tape, leukoplast or moleskin to patch up the hurting areas.
Hope this helps.
