I am ignorance in this area. I thought SG govt only uses NZ for training purposes, Could anyone tell me Since when did SAF had joint exercise with host country New Zealand?
The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) and the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) are conducting their annual bilateral artillery exercise from 9 Jan to 13 Feb, at the Waiouru Training Area in New Zealand.
Ex Thunder Warrior
Codenamed Thunder Warrior, the exercise involves about 1,000 personnel from the 21st and 24th Battalion, Singapore Artillery; 1st Military Intelligence Battalion; 3rd Battalion, Singapore Infantry Regiment, and the 16th Field Regiment, Royal New Zealand Artillery.
Highlights of the exercise include a bilateral live-firing mission, where a battery of 105mm artillery guns from the NZDF and the SAF's Self-Propelled Howitzer Primus were deployed.
Besides artillery training, the SAF will also be conducting infantry training, supported by M113 Armoured Personnel Carriers, the Primus, weapon-locating radar and mini-unmanned aerial vehicles.
Established in 1997, Exercise Thunder Warrior has enhanced interoperability and mutual understanding among the personnel of the SAF and the NZDF, with both armed forces sharing excellent defence ties and bilateral relations.
