i just enlisted and went thru a few road march.during the few road march i found that the boots that was issued isnt very effecient as it caused my feets to have many blisters.
i intend to use gortex boots that had been seasoned and used by my friends so it can help me reduce the number of blister and unwanted pain.
Does anyone know if it is allowed in tekong?
The design is different from the current boots issued so i need someone to verify with me if the boots are allowed.
To avoid blisters just wear your thick SAF-issued white socks under your green ones.
Is it a seasoned SAF issued goretex boots or commercially bought non-issued boots? if its the latter most likely not. if its issued by SAF but belonged to someone else or bought from Beach road then its ok.
if its bmt, i dont think ur instructors will allow you to be special and wear goretex.
mono intake bmt gotch gortex boots
ya suggest u dun wear the goretex boots too. cos later the commanders might feel that ur trying to be special or smth. cos i do have a pair of season gortex boots but dun dare to use. mayb next time u go unit can use la. but not now i think.
to avoid blister, u can wear double layer of socks n use double insole for ur boots.
or can put plaster on the blister areas to ensure no further blisters

correct! go unit, then talk.
think lor... everybody wear the standard saf new balance running shoes, then a recruit ba long long wear a sleek nike pro lightweight running shoes...
imho not very noticable leh, its all black...
and gore tex boots damn comfy , needs just a few days of walking to break in compared to the horrid break in period of leathers.
i suggest continue wearing your current pairs of boots, reason is to season it.
i am thinking the other way round, probably your feet are not suited to the boots ?
got tighten all the way ?
r u wearing oversized boots? wat size r u wearing?
Why don't you, TS, go back and asked your sgt.......
its normal to have blister.. jus chiong only
when i enlist in 03' we got two pair of goretex boots. Thats not the norm now is it? Anyway back then i used my brother's old leather boots for route march, the instructors didnt say anything cos its was still an issued item. i dont see any problem wearing issued but seasoned boots. just dont go wear US jungle boots or something..
wa lao, it's normal to hav blisters while road marching with ur leather boots. Just let it seasoned a while more then it will be ok. Take mine for example, i wore my bmt tekong issued leather boots for 8mths liao. Yeah i wore 1 single bloody boots for all events (POP, chiong sua n etc..). My boots alrdy seasoned until damn lok kok liao. Even now in unit, i am still wearing my leather boots even though we r allowed to wear goretex boots coz it's alrdy damn seasoned and feels very much the same like a goretex boots.
Anyway it's up to u, afterall it's your foot not mine !
not sure about ur coy but during my bmt i remember ppl from ncc wearing goretex for route marches and no1 said anything....anyway the goretex doesnt have to be seasoned imo even out fresh of the box it works wonders

the degree of black differs from the gotex because gotex boots has this layer of cloth like texture that is noticeable and its the reason why it's also not the same as leather boots. So it's super obvious...
but then again, no one would be so stupid as to purposely notice your boots while road marching...
