Hey peeps. I just receive a letter from CMPB recently.will be posted to 3rd Battalion SIR,Selarang Camp.So anyone,same intake as me?
and whats the difference btween those doing infantry in tekong and those in selarang?what is 'mono-intake'?
can someone pls tell me.... -
mono intake means u do ur bmt in a unit u're posted to since day 1, you don't get to go to Tekong to BMTC 1/2. you'll be with your platoonmates till ROD, meaning reservist also same bunch of guys.

Was from 12th Mono batch, though I did my BMT in Tekong.. You'll be in 13th mono. You'll be a rifleman there.. life will be siong but fun, especially when you be dealing with FIBUA stuff and if you like to chiong sua. Will have 2-3 overseas ex.. Ex Lancer is almost guaranteed. CO just changed, if i'm not wrong COC is these few days.. new guy will be from CDO. Quite a few from CDO around, such as CSMs and OCs. I have heard from my HQ peeps that life there is getting better though, with most of the 12th mono commanders gone, but ultimately depends on what new CO is gonna do. It was like yesterday that I saw one of the coys enlisting and they gonna ORD in 3 months. How time flies. All the best yeah. Silent and Effective!

Wah so many guys here have friends in 3SIR as sgt...soon to be recruits better watched out. In fact being nice to friend does not mean being nice to recruits, as the matter of fact I don't think one especially be too nice to recruits especially at the beginning few weeks, they may take advantage of you.

i heard most of the officers and instructors there are regulars
but im still sad coz can only bring 3 ppl including me,for enlistment day
is the camp that small?

Actually 3SIR is not that small, if you want to bring more people on your enlistment, you can call them.

3SIR is but just one of the tenant units in the camp. The camp isnt small, just that 3 SIR compound isnt that big. Seriouly, in my days, no one really bother how many people you bring in.

At first, I was sent to 3SIR... 13 March 09
But I didn't manage to score a silver for my NAFA...
In the end, got transferred to Pulau Tekong BMTC School 1.... 13 March 09

tekong factilities is like a resort style...
after bmt, u r post out to a vocation course, then finally to a permanent unit... so different places, instead of 1 solid serving the same unit for 2 years straight -

Hah. I was like you...just that I was posted to 4SIR. Trust me. Training will be much more tougher from those of BMTC. One sugguestion to you is try ALL means if you can to get a post out.
I got it(proving that it's not impossible), and I'm proud to say that it was the most wonderful thing that ever happened to me in my NS life. Unless of course you find that you have wonderful bunch of friends/platoon mates, etc.

Btw, remember to bring some essential items like black markers, hangers, alarm clock if you really need it, and basically most of the list of items to bring are found in the SAF topics...
