I know they use the M4 and CAR-15 but is it just the normal round barrel/grip and non-detachable carryhandle/ironsights or is it with RIS or P-rails and detachiable ironsights/carry handle? and i've seen them with optics mounted on the carry handle but would they mount it like in this pic? (im talking bout SAF commandos/NUD no US or uk what not.
more pics (NICE GUN eh!)
Now is SAR21
no no, now is SAR-21 doesnt mean EVERY SINGLE SERVICE MAN uses the SAR-21. yes trainned in it but not in their specific job. The M4 is used by -to some extent- in infantry (i say this FIBUA vid where 1 or 2 guys were using the M4), the commandos, NUD, SOF(probably more than SAR-21), Ship secruity teams in the gulf and africa and STAR unit.
In some roles ei commandos,SOF and definetly ship security teams, using a SAR-21 in cramp condtions or just using a full length rifle is stupid. SAR-21 cannot forfile ALL roles and i hope the cheif general and all those army guys realise that.
M4 is way more cool than SAR21.
Hanor.....I simply adore the CAR-15 I used. Light and handy. But admittedly a bit more fragile.
A rifle that weighs 2-3kg. That alone kicks ass.
The SAR-21? Too heavy and bulky for my liking.
The M-16? Too long and "metal" for my liking.
u use CAR-15? where and when? (no airsoft for god's sake) which unit?
and nobody has answered my question

When I served the RSN.
I like M4A1 carbine
gt any AK 27
armoured infantry use M4 ma...
moi used M4 with ironsights and no P rails.
Moi not in infantry, commandos, NUD, SOF, Ship secruity teams, STAR unit, or armoured infantry, or RSN.
What am I?
no one in infantry uses the M4 or CAR-15. it was mostly used by armoured troops in the 1990s due to the confined spaces that is their workplace. they're all being replaced by SARs.
the SAR-21 is more than adequate for most missions, as what you get from a bullpup rifle is maximum barrel length, overall reduced length of the rifle. hence theoratically speaking, the sar-21 CAN be argued to be more accurate, or at least more than capable of fitting the mission profile of anyone who requires an M4.
The CAR-15s that the infantry and support arms used to have (carried by recce troops) had no rails, bells and whistles whatsoever.this is because last time round stuff such as ACOGS, EOtechs etc etc were simply too expensive to equip a normal conscript army. and i believe they weren't even invented yet.
The reason why alot of naval boarding teams use the CAR-15 is due to the fact that they.. simply have not received the SAR-21 yet. (this is an opinion, not a fact.)
besides, theres the SAR-21 P-rail MMS, so theres no need for us to buy any M4s.

i cant answer for the NSF commandos, but i'm 99.99% sure they only use SAR-21s now.
SOF is classified. what they use does not concern any NSF anyway. their ops is completely different from what we do. for all we know, they only use their barehands to fight ;)
correction, AI uses pretty much the same shit as infantry, tankies still got the privilage to use Carbines...

nice one. but the sar-mms for infantry (3G Soldier varient) is really pointless. the whole point is to make it lighter, but they put so much stuff on it that it makes it actually harder to wield.
the EO-tech sight's pretty cool though.. when they actually function. haha.
but i have every confidence that the army would correct all these and make it an awesome weapon system. =)
oh and 'ho sei bo', scout bikers use the SAR-21 now. sorry.
hey i was wondering.. i'll be entering CDOs on the 10th july... wat weapon will i be issued with and i am a left-hander.... i'll need to request for a left-hand rifle? if so, when?

i really dont know much about rifles, but it seems slower to change magazines with SAR21 than M16/CAR15. Maybe because the magazine slot is in the rear.
Even the Malaysians are using a locally produced M4 variant as a standard. Maybe if war breaks out, i capture one and use it instead of SAR21

haha. firstly, our neighbours across the causeway are very friendly people. War with anyone is possible, but i'd like to avoid that in any foreseeable future. how are we to get Ramly Burgers then. ;)
also, i'd probably avoid picking up any weapon that belongs to the enemy. reliability is a big problem. we dont know how well they clean their equipment, and their problems with their locally produced AUGs are well documented. And i totally agree that it can be abit awkward to reload the SAR-21, but really, its a matter of training, training, training.
carzygoul. you're better off checking in the cdo thread. i was from infantry, so i can't comment. don't worry. everyone uses the SAR-21 these days. and there is no left-handed SAR, but no worries. they'd train you to shoot rightey just fine
ho sei boh. really? M4s? wow. last time i saw them was in brunei, when my instructors used them to fend off crocodiles. haha. which formation are you from? don't have to mention your unit. i dont want any unwanted MSD attention.
