well hey guys. i know there have been a few threads previously regarding LBVs etc that our servicemen get, but they all seem to be dead. I thought it'd be nice for everyone to discuss the equipment that they have receieved over the years. Hopefully, MSD won't touch this as everything is widely available at beach road, and thus 'open source'. As this is my first picture post (and as i'm a noob), please be nice and tell me if you don't like it, or you want me to move it somewhere else.
Just a brief introduction. I served my time in an infantry bn and just recently ORD-ed. my LBV might seem a little different from everyone else's, as there were leftovers from the trials given to the previous mono in the bn, and i took a sample. The quality's alot better than the current one that all the recruits in BMT recieved. I also zhnged it many times extra for personal comfort; namely to accomodate my bunsen cooker, cookies, 100plus, sweets, chocolates etc.
I'd try and get everyone a close up of the new ILBV (integrated load bearing vest- digitised and armoured) from some open sources for comparison. This would probably be re-manufactured and issued.. 3-4 years down the road?thanks and have a good one! please add on to this thread if you can. i'm sure those nostalgic ex-nsfs overseas would love to see what we have now. i'd post more pictures in the coming days, once i get the hang of how to use my camera and photoshop.
Back of my LBV. note the waterbag. its the SAF D&G issued one. the original SOURCE 3 litre ones were stolen quite some time ago.
front of lbv.
inside mesh.
right close-up.
something cool i got from the older LBVs. magazine dividers! easier to separate the snickers from the mars bars.
standard assault bag. issued to everyone. carried by everyone.
back MOLLE of assault bag. useless to everyone.
some random notebook i got for participating in a demonstration.
inside of random notebook.
uniform! no rank as yet. the store ic indented the wrong ones.
well yeah! i finally got the links working. hope everyone likes it, and more importantly, contribute! i'd see what else i can take from my kit bag later. any requests? i hope to get a shot of the ILBV soon. let everyone see whats its like as opposed to what other army's have.
cheers!
well it seems my lack of IT skills has made a right mess of thing. i sincerely apologise. will fix it once i get back home tonight.
anyone care to help? i exhaused all the upload picture interfaces on this forum.
how come you cover your unit patch? you are not some kind of secret squirrel black ops ninja are you?
Wow, that LBV... hmm, u were from 3SIR?? That is not the standard issue LBV from BMT. That was one of the LBV design on trial before implementation ....
double post

haha no. attention's just not good.
oh, and gd4u, yeah that was the trial LBV design. i was issued the 'normal' BMT one, but found a surplus one leftover and used it.
any ADF trooper has theirs to share?
Hmm, it looks more solid than the later version, i was using my cousin's set for ICT and it was subpar...One of the zips to hold maps or field rations is stuck after i crawl in wet mud and it hardened in the sun. My SOP cards are all stuck inside! I switched back to my SBO for later ICTs...
That trial design had supposedly way too big shoulder straps, which some comments were too big making them uncomfy and hindering movements. But yet, its hydration pack compartment is way better than the current ones, plus of course, durability ...

I totally agree about the way too big shoulder straps. they made it smaller in the BMT version.
The good thing about the removable hydration pack is that it leaves a nice cooling mesh behind when you take it off. the current one is one big flap, which traps heat. not to mention it makes it very uncomfortable to sleep with LBV on. haha.
Wow, my old SBO looks like a piece of salted-vegetable now that I see your pics of the new LBV.
So the assault bag replaced the full pack? It doesn't seem very big to be able to hold all the full pack items.
And the No. 4 has unit patches now? So is there still space for airborne badge, etc. above the SINGAPORE tag?
SAF is sure willing to spend for modern amenities now. Good for you.
What kind of boots are you all wearing now, and PT shoes? Goretex and Nike Air?
I still have my black fuzzy Panda-brand PT shoes that contributed to my knee problems...
