7 Core Values ?

Today the SC made us chant the SAF core values again during water parade! Buey Tah Han!!! As Gen Y folks, we are resistant towards this kinda propaganda and how does SAF expect us to internalise the core values with this?! e only value i internalised is chao keng!

We must not confuse PAP with SAF.
I think more and more people despise PAP and they associate PAP with SAF; that is incorrect.
In some countries for example, the party controls the army as in China.
But here, the SAF is under control of state.

Hey, I'm glad you think those values are awesome.
Perhaps you might have ideas on how it can be better employed so that we as a society can improve the system? It might not be overnight, but in time it may change for the better? Leadership by example and more perhaps? But it gotta start with you and me, now.
PS: To try to understand you better, if its the basis - recitation of the core values during a water parade - irks you, which should be held during perhaps a more formal occasion, then perhaps I plead an indulgence from you for an insight by me.
You've probably been out of the loop and the big picture on what's happening the past few weeks - Aware saga, plenty of bad feelings, Parliament re-convening followed by a Presidential address, etc.
So I guess your commanders took the opportunity to re-affirm your team's and everyone else's committment to our valued and precious independant society. Nothing wrong really with that if you believe in the core values itself.

Dude, u have to grow up. Chanting the 7 core values doesn't necessary inculcate the values. It has the same theory with the national athem, your school song, etc because "I have to" not "I want to".
U must understand, there is a huge difference between real soldiering and real-good wayang-ing.
