  It also depends on whether you need to be hospitalised or not.

  If you need to be hospitalised, your 11B will only help you subsidy for class C wards. If you need to be moved to higher class wards for certain reasons, you will need to pay the extra amount for these wards.

  You will be classified as a subsidised patient if your first visit is via:

  • Referral letter from a Government Restructured Hospital under subsidised status, A&E, Polyclinic or SAF, without specifying a specialist by name
  • Discharge from inpatient class B2 or C without specifying a specialist by name

  If they get any injuries in camps during their reservist periods, then yes. Outside of that few days every year, NO.

  I visited Tampines poly clinic back in the late 1990s for a dental checkup a few months before ORD. I thought that I will be entitled to a subsidy or even free dental as outside dental is expensive. I flashed my 11B and enquire any lower rate. The nurse say "SAF big meh, we staff also need to pay" When I ask her about subsidy, "Go back & ask your officer." I ended up paying the full market rate $50 but later I took a long time to claim receipt back from my unit S4 branch just before ORD.
