Just say:
"This is as higher ranks in the army are given to people who are recognised to be able to contribute to the Army, and that proper strategies and acadamic results will help as they can be applied in the Military, the military has more than enough 'sai gang' or shitjob warriors to go dig the soil and stand as human shields, the military needs people who can sit in the office wearing a no.3 and contribute ideas, strategies and tactics to the army to improve it. in general, people with good acadamics are recognized as smarter people who can contribute intelligence to the army and as people who sit in offices usually have higher ranks, people with good acadamics will be selected to be the future leaders of the army and thus will get fast promotion, this gives an advantage to people with better acadamics to get promoted faster compared to people with poorer acadamics."
