How well can a spec fare if he holds a degree from nus/ntu/smu? I notice that there is an increment for degree holder spec, but by how much. cause can get better jobs outside that may pay you 3k...
what kind of spec are you talking about?
so far the only significant progression in pay is for people under MDES scheme. cos they can sort of "upgrade and jump rank" once they earn their degrees
combat specs? infantry specialist ect.. can anyone enlighten me? how fast to get promoted to wo with a degree? just asking with the intention to sign on. discuss can?
most sergeant regulars, once conferred a degree, will wait for the 1st contract end date, quit and go outside to work liao loh...
they r willing to start a new job with slightly lower starting pay (however, at least within a degree holder salary range), but so what... because they cannot get that job satisfaction feeling anymore... so they switched jobs for a change of working environment...
When u get a degree, you can request to go to OCS than convert to officer?

doubt so. thats why to compensate those who earn their degree during their signing on years, only those who are in service voc get to cross from spec to officers (eg senior tech to eng officer)
but only some people are able to get it and end up having the MDES scheme introduced to encourage people to earn higher qualifications and in turn get higher pay.
and i doubt degrees will mean u can become officer immediately when you are in a combat voc. so think carefully before signing on for the vocation you want.
promote faster to warrant officer than convert lo
Correct me if I am wrong.
I remember once you sign on as a regular spec, you are never allowed to go for full-time studies. This means that you already have a carreer, you are not allowed to disrupt, to go to poly or uni. Until the day you finish you contract. you can do for part-time, but only SIM offered part-time degree .
I remember a friend of mine took up a ITE-Navy scheme, in which the Navy wants him to upgrade this related-vocation skill. So, he get pay to study ITE.
If you take on a local merit, then you are by default an officer.
If you are a degree holder already, why bother to sign on relative low paid specialist vocation?
