What are my chances... I only got O Level... am 26 female... i applied for Navy Underwater Combat Medic and Army Combat Medic... I really want the job... my interest is in medic... What can i expect from the interview?
when's your interview?
Dunno... letter not arrived... =(
I guess the natural question is what have you been doing since O lvls?
there is a rat-faced arty CPT in mindef who also signed on. just gave birth...appeared in one of the past army advertisements..there are desperados who think she's hot but I can only pardon them by assuming its cos they haven't seen her rat face in real life.

Hi XiaoTianYa,
Some of the questions which my sibling told me are:
1. Why did you want to join SAF?
2. If you get a better job offer outside, will you take it up or still sign on?
3. Will you consider other openings if you do not get this vocation?
Please do note that my sibling did not manage to sign on as a regular, much to my parents' relief.
Cheers.
TS,
have you tried applying to SCDF as a paramedic? i'm not sure about the requirements though.
if you only have o level, maybe can try applying to study for a nursing diploma. it would probably open up more job prospects for you after you graduate.
Hi XiaoTianYa,
i would say maybe you can relook at what you want to achieve. like weymas mentioned, SCDF paramedic would be another good option. it is an everyday event that you have to answer emergency calls. but if you are looking for opportunities and expose yourself to overseas missions that our SAF is very active in, i think you made a right choice.
my 5cents worth...

yep, TS, do consider your options. there are many ways to explore your interest in being a medic. no harm done to consider other career options too, so that you won't be so restricted to just being a medic.

you should take up diploma in nursing. there is free sponsorship from singhealth.
then you can sign on as civilian on Navy Medical.
You sure will get in one, as there are not enough regular medic in the medical corps

To add on, if TS can do well in her diploma, she can choose to take up Nursing degree at NUS. It is a full-paid bonded degree, and you will start receiving pay when you are studying.
If TS gets the job, hope you can be a good lady medic. Too few female medics and even fewer good ones. Most of the ones I've met quite lousy.
morning ppl.

i rather u go www.scdf.gov.sg or www.moh.gov.sg ...
food for thought:
if 99% of the guys just preferred to ORD as per normal to be a citizen-soldier civilian, and vowed never to sign on, this can already speak for itself about the organisation image on y the guys will not even consider this organisation as a career...

SCDF is for the ultimate losers and deadbeats who are deemed to be so dumb, they can only be trusted with a water hose and not a rifle.
just look at who they put in SCDF and the kind of the press they get you know liao.
Its more for people who want to coast along and have no career ambitions. More to live day to day.
i just want to say is ...
instead of just providing medical attention to just soldiers, if the girl really want to be a medical staff, she should go to either scdf or moh or any hospitals to give medical attention to all people of the general public...

True. Can treat wider range of people in MOH.
Maybe its a pride thing and/or she really loves the combat life (army, navy). She said earlier she wants to do underwater combat medic..and army combat medic.
MOH got no underwater work or combat work.
No matter what please don't consider SCDF. Its the graveyard place where they dump people.

btw, a lot of guys in the mono intake want to sign on as spec, but rejected and ORD. in one company have at least 10-15.

Hi xiaomeow,
You may have to take your Napfa Test again. You may wish to call the number here for any enquiries which you may have:

As a side note, I have a colleague who signed on as a SAF Signal Officer at the age of 27.
Cheers.

your cousin leads such a 'good' life, which is why he's a SSG at the age of 43.
