hey all, i just wana does it matter to u all if there are light or heavy scratches on ur beret badge. coz i've been using my beret for ard 8 mths and there are already light scratches appearing on it. is it normal or am i just careless in taking care of it?
I don't really care but then i only wear mine like once a month for CO parade as well as during guard duty.

oic...my camp requires everyone to wear headdress when you are walking around unsheltered areas, so basically you muz bring ur beret along with you all the time. i'm just wondering why the beret badges of others i have seen are basically quite well maintained without any light scratches and mine already has a few on it after just 8 mths. does dropping ur beret on the floor causes those scratches on ur badge?

My vocation was autotech so we don't wear number 4 when working in camp. We also book in in CV so i hardly ever really wear my uniform. Dropping on the floor might scratch it if its the badge that hits the floor.
i'm a ammo tech but we bk in and out of camp in no. 4. we also work in vest & slack attire and for me, my beret is always in my pants' right hand pocket so it may be quite prone to impact occasionally. i know i'm asking a stupid qns here but i'm wondering if there are any methods to mend the scratches? i know u ppl will ask me to buy a new 1 instead but mine is still quite new and its gold in colour bought in beach rd instead of the faded sliver badge given by log branches of most saf camps.

Got silver de ah? Mine i went to buy from E-mart and mine was gold. It doesn't really cost too much to get using credits so it might be easier to just replace it if u find too many scratches on it. Maybe use the new 1 only for parades and such and leave the old 1 for daily usage.
Autotech all wear coverall so we do not ever need headdress for our attire.
oic...the fellow in beach rd told mi saf-issued beret badges are sliver in colour and fade easily, he talk so much abt how high quality his gold beret badges are and do not fade so easily so i did a 1 for 1 exchange wif him using my saf issued sliver badge for a gold 1. i just hate the fact that i maintain it quite well with little or no scratches and then my camp mates keep fooling ard by throwing ppl's berets to play monkey. childish muthaf**kas!!!

I didn't know SAF now all silver de cos my time was gold.
Anyway if the scratches are not too obvious, it should be fine.

i tink saf is trying to reduce their budget so they outsource the manufacturing of the badges to china which is what i heard frm the guy in beach rd. don't really know whether there's any truth in what he say. i think i'm suffering frm OCD or something, i can't stand little imperfections in my belongings if not i'll get really frustrated about it. i have regrets leaving my beret lying ard, if i had carried it with me at all times...

The badge is just quite a minor thing so don't get so worked up over it. U should have alot of excess credits so just go to the e-mart and buy a new badge. Silver or gold shouldn't really be that important. There should be better things for you to feel worried about rather than just that right?
yeah u'r so damn right! if its me who inflict the damage on my badge, i wont feel quite bad abt it, but its others who did so which made me so pissed off with them. here i'm trying my best to keep my stuff in good condition and there, people are trying to piss you off by doing stupid things.

Now abit of psychology...
The purpose people are doing such things is to piss u off as u said so by being pissed off, u have let them achieve them aim and provided them 'motivation' to continue the act. If u had heck care about what they have done, it might make them not repeat the behavior again since it has little effect on u.
i'm trying my best now to forget about it. no point crying over spilled milk, whats done cant be undone. i just have to be very careful in future not to leave my stuff lying ard in order to prevent further damage to my badge. i wana maintain the current condition of my badge from now till the day i ord.anyway thks for all the advice and guidance you have gave me, it sorta enlightens me to a certain extent. i feel much better after reading what you've said. people are crying over the loss of their loved ones and yet, i'm making a big fuss over a piece of badge. i think i'm real crappy sometimes...

Its ok. There are more problems u might face later in life that are alot tougher to handle than that so get yourself ready for them by being able to get over the minor issues 1st.
Should be less than a yr till u ORD i believe since there was no update about your enlistment date after the change in enlistment date last year.
Good luck and take care.
