ORD: Voluntary ORD Extension ?

I've now already ORDed for more than 2 weeks. But since 2 months before I ORD, I was already thinking of extending for 6 months IF I can get regular pay. Why not? I 'lao jiao' already so can a bit more relax, is familiar with how the things around me work, and still get around the same pay as working outside.
Anyway, my S1 said regular pay is only for regulars, so NSFs who extend 6 months will still continue to get their pathetic $490 coporal allowance.
However, most, if not all, of my friends insist that one'll get regular pay for extending 6 month.
So now I'm really confuse and want to just find out: if I had extended for 6 months, will I get regular pay or NSF pay?

You believe someone who is a regular or someone who has not extended their ORD before?
There is no reason for giving you regular pay or any pay rise cos choosing to extend ORD is a VOLUNTEERY action so you should be happy they even continue to give you your NS allowance when they can choose to not give you a cent.

Well, like I've said, in camp I lao jiao already. Go out work have to learn from scratch (though I know this kinda attitude in finding comfort zone is bad for health)Besides, as a soldier most of my saturdays and sundays are untouched. outside have to work OT plus lots of saturday or sunday...sure, earn hell lots of money. but no time to spend, what's the point?

U 2 yr soldier dunno SAF is 24/7 de ah. Weekends they call u back no extra pay de oh including guard duty etc.
Either accept ur CPL pay or just forget about extending ur service.

NSF Pay if you extend if I never remember wrongly.
Just that there are no guard duties assigned to you I guess.
But btw, they wun allow you to extend unless your commanders recommend you for extension. -

Surely after 2 years I DO know how many weekends I'll have to burn on average per month... -

All the O's kids i know who are working are all earning over 1k a month and theres still some who work 8-5 wkdays which is significantly higher than anything SAF will pay while still having their weekends free.
Have you been brainwashed or been in the army too long and do not know whats happening in the outside world...

dont. serious. I also orded 2 month. thought the months b4 ORD was shiok, and it was indeed. I even have a bit of feeling of signing on... which when i look back now, was totally crazy and stupid. You can learn much more outside, which is what i did. there are a lot of job offers online, go and serach them out. dont be lazy~ lol.

I already have a job at $7 per hour, that's why I mentioned the OTs. And I searched for jobs like crazy after I ORD.
Anyway, what's wrong with wanting to serve the nation? SAF may be a organisation with f-ked up people inside but it's different matter from protecting one's country altogether.

If you want serve the nation, you should not even be thinking about getting a higher pay. You choose to serve and not the SAF hire you to work.
