Beret Colours: Red/ Khaki Brown/ Green/ Black/ Dark Blue

  Hi all!

  Just curious. Beside Red for Commandos and Khakis for Guards, is there other colour of beret for other vocation?

  I read that armour beret is black but somehow almost everyone i see are using black beret.

  Green = Infantry/ RPs
  Black = Armour
  Dark Blue = Combat Service Support eg. MP Medic Arti Signals

  Combat Engineers and Artillery also dark blue.

  Infantry is Olive green, and is distinctly different from Guard's Khaki. Commando is red. Black armour like you said, dark blue is for all combat service support, as you listed above, and also Intelligence comes under combat service support.

  SOF is a higher level, one up from commandos, the numbers are small, and they are the ones who shot dead the Muslim terrorists who hijacked an SIA plane in the late 1990s.

  The SOF of SAF was started way before the mickey mouse version in the SPF and I believe the latter was modelled upon it. Honestly i've seen the STAR team in the SPF at work before, and they were worse than Boy Scouts. The SPF has another 'elite' force besides STAR, both are crap.

  The army guys in NS saw the police at work when they did the joint exercise for Mas Selamat search, they were really idiotic and sissy and can't even climb up small knolls.

  Sometime i see our serviceman wearing beret, not sure if they wearing it correctly or what. But seeing US soldier wearing beret, got this aura with it. And the beret just look good on them. Maybe its the way it is worn.

  Haha..most of us are citizen soldiers..they don't wear their beret with pride and let alone the fact that they don't even want to serve at all. Anyway I do wear my dark blue beret with pride nonetheless.

  Yeah it just doesn't look the same on Asians, i know what you mean by the beret look on the US soldiers. I think perhaps its the shape of the head of many Asians..A lot of SAF soldiers and officers look like potatos when they wear theirs.

  Ya they just have this beret look. I figure that they use larger then required size to create this long flap on the side. Our serviceman flap on the side too short, a bit noob looking. They also have a backing with the rank like our Guards beret, so the backing could have make the beret look taller. 

  LOL I have no idea what i am talking about now....
