As such, I am scheduled to undergo surgery in a couple of weeks and the specialist said that he will have to write a letter asking for me to be excused from push-ups and pull-ups. What i would like to know is what PES will that qualify me as? Thanks
should be in the Pes C region.

Yes.
When you are a patient at SGH, they keep records of your visit. They are bound by law and professional ethics to keep your medical records, including Electronic Medical Records, and all aspects of care rendered to you strictly confidential.
Okay, thanks.
My sister called them today and there wasn't any reply. I will most likely will pay a visit with my sister tomorrow.
I asked my mum for further details, she said that she saw the file in the doctor's hand that he wrote "Lung mystery". What PES will that problem qualify me as?

As there's no finalised clinical diagnosis, therefore your PES is probable by CMPB and remains a mystery as well.
But be prepared that say for example, should you now go for a hospital full body checkup with your own money and is found that you are fit and have fully recovered from this childhood condition or any other, then that means you are fit.
Even those who have history of childhood asthma, but didn't have any attack during teenage years, are deemed to have recovered and are graded PES B, which is combat-fit status.
Yeap must get specialist memo to down PES. No memo no talk....If you wanna help yourself, better go for a full checkup (with your own $)....
Hi Guys, I'm currently in my 2nd week in SCS. I OOC-ed during my 2nd day here due to epilepsy (fits). The MO has recommended to the medical board that I be down-PES from A to E. Is it true that the medical board meets once per mth? Will I definitely be a clerk? If yes, stay in or out? Can anybody tell me how long will I have to wait b4 I get my nx posting?

I thought NS will have the full check-up?
I did asked my parents to send me for a full check-up but my dad said that there'll be ECG scan there and asked me not to worry because they'll detect my problem there. I have occassion chest pain problem during primary and secondary school. I only attended P.E lessons the first 2 years + in my life because of nausetic and chest pain problem. It carries on even to now which even climbing one floor up the stairs make me feel very breathless and my chest felt sharp pain with fast heart-beat. I don't want to go for hospital checkups because it's very costly. My parents talk too much about using up money which made me feel very discouraged to go for checkups. I'm relying on the health check-up that NS is giving to us.
This isn't the only problem that I'm facing. I have other problems but I don't want to disclose here because I don't feel comfortable. I told about this problem to a couple of my trusted friends and they urge me to get a specialist memo asap. My sec 4 form teacher urged me to seek a specialist 5 years ago too. I have so much fear to approach a specialist. I don't even know if I can speak it to the MO. I have the tendancy to keep problems to myself and fear to speak out. There was one time I fainted during P.E lesson in lower secondary because I didn't declare I had fever the previous day. I'm in a dillemma right now.

No the NS checkup is different. You have to get a specialist memo in order to down PES. To get that memo, you must find a specialist first....no way out. You must do something to help yourself....otherwise the one who suffers in the end will be you.....

Register for NS : General Information
Pre-enlistment Medical Screening
Prior to enlistment, all pre-enlistees have to undergo a thorough medical examination at the Medical Classification Centre (MCC) within the Central Manpower Base (CMPB). This examination allows the medical fitness of a pre-enlistee to be assessed and this subsequently determines his Physical Employment Status (PES).
Medical Screening Appointment Preparations
As part of the e-documentation, you are also required to select your preferred medical appointment date as well as to complete the medical questionnaire (e7F). You will need to go through the medical questionnaire form with your parents / guardian so that useful medical information about you is captured.
To ensure that your medical experience with us is pleasant and that the overall screening process is not unnecessarily delayed, we have compiled a checklist for you:
- Print out a copy of the medical questionnaire (e7F) and ensure that your parent / guardian and you sign on the printed document. Bring the e7F on the day of your medical appointment at MCC.
- Avoid wearing contact lenses. Wear your spectacles as you will be required to undergo eye checks.
- Wear loose fitting clothes (e.g. shorts) to facilitate physical examination.
- Bring along any medical documents to support your existing medical condition (if any).
- Health Booklet (if any).
Clinical Examinations
The medical screening process takes on average 150 minutes to complete and there is a series of test that you will have to undertake.
Registration Station
At MCC Registration Counter, you will be required to submit your e7F. As a form of verification, you will be asked for your NRIC or any form of photo identification (e.g. driving license, school pass.)
Clinical Laboratory Station
At the Clinical Laboratory Station blood samples are drawn for G6PD, haemoglobin and blood group typing tests. Simple urine tests to detect the presence of blood, protein and glucose (sugar) will also be carried out for you at the Station.
Dental Station
At the Dental Station, the Dental Officer will carry out an oral examination and Dental Charting. A Dental X-ray or Orthopantomography (OPG) will also be conducted.
X-ray Station
A Chest x-ray (CXR) screening will also be conducted for you at the X-ray Station for the radiological assessment of your heart and lungs.
Eye Station
At the Eye Station routine eye tests are carried out to detect eye abnormalities and test your visual and refractive error.
ENT (Ear, Nose & Throat) Station
At ENT Station an audio test or audiogram will be conducted to detect hearing abnormalities.
Station 6 (Clinical Examination Station)
Station 6 is the Clinical Examination Station, you will undergo height, weight and blood pressure measurements. An electrocardiogram (ECG) will also be done for you in the ECG Room.
After completion of all the clinical investigations and measurements, you will then be examined and evaluated by a Medical officer.
Station 6 Counter (Post Clinical Screening)
Once you have completed the above series of medical screening, you will be medically classified with a PES grading.
Station 6 Counter will also issue instructions for the pre-enlistee if the pre-enlistee is to return to MCC for any further medical investigations.

Other Services
MCC Eye Clinic
The Specialist Eye Clinic at MCC provides medical assessment for eye conditions. An appointment will be made for you during the screening procedure should it be deemed necessary. Please bring all documents regarding any known eye condition for your appointment.
MCC ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) Clinic
The Specialist ENT Clinic provides pre-enlistment assessment for ENT complaints. You will be informed if there is a need for you to attend this clinic.
MCC Specialist Psychiatric Clinic
The Specialist Psychiatric Clinic at MCC aims to assess the suitability of a pre-enlistee with regard to psychiatric conditions already known or discovered during the screening process. It is essential to have one parent accompany you should an appointment be made for you and it would greatly shorten the delay to enlistment if you bring all your pre-existing psychiatric medical records for your appointment.
MCC Specialist Orthopedic Clinic
The specialist orthopedic clinic has the purpose of grading a pre-enlistee with regard to any orthopedic problems. A medical officer will be in attendance together with a senior doctor from one of the restructured hospitals. Here we will grade you based on your orthopedic problems. Please bring all medical reports and X-ray films for this visit.
Medical Review
A pre-enlistee with any abnormalities noted during the medical screening will be required to undergo medical review. This can take several forms as appropriately decided by the Medical Officer.
Referral to SAF Military Medicine Institute (MMI) / Government / Restructured Hospitals
The pre-enlistee may be referred to SAF MMI, government / restructured hospitals for further investigations. If the referral is required, he will be given a set of documents to bring along as well as information regarding the date, time and venue.
Physical Employment Status (PES)
The PES grading assigned is based on your medical condition and is used by the SAF in determining your vocation during your NS period.
=============================================================
Medical Referral Management System
Medical Referral Management System or MRS allows you (pre-enlistee) to access personal medical information any time at your convenience and to undertake medical related business within a single setting.
Following are some of the MRS functions:
i) Online Medical Information System.
You can view your personal medical information and be kept informed through MRS of pending medical appointments.
ii) Application for a new Letter Of Identity (LOI).
You can apply for a LOI that waives consultation and investigative fees up to the point of diagnosis instead of travelling to Central Manpower Base to obtain the document.
iii) Reminder.
Worried that you would forget your medical appointment? Just update your contact details and you would receive reminder through your preferred channel.

Clerks usually stay out. It should be two weeks to 2 months for your next posting. Be patient....

Is it advisable to go see specialists of all the conditions that I suspect I have from the current symptoms and show them all medical reports before the medical screening?
...(deleted for misguiding users due to misleading information)...
e.g. my this friend say this and that and heard from don't know where anyhow charged for 'malingering' where in fact is a genuine medical condition...etc.
One say that I should go for check-ups in hospitals before going into the medical screening. My symptoms are real and I only want a safe enviroment in army that's suitable for my health condition.
I'm very confuse now which direction to go.
1. Seek specialists and have more checkups before pre-enlistee screening.
2. Keep quiet about my symptoms and I will place my trust in them to find out my conditions in the pre-enlist medical screening?
Sorry for asking alot of questions because I'm in dilemma now.

What your friend said is a big bag full of crap. Don't listen to him.
He's just scaring you because in his brain and mind, he thinks that you are just 'kenging' since he sees you "now good good what... still in one piece".
Please listen here for already ORD citizen soldiers who have already done with NS and have already gotten back our NRICs in our wallets.
1) Having a specialist memo in hand before going to the CMPB checkup is a value-added insurance. The rule of thumb is, "no specialist memo, no talk."
2) Voice out. Sound out. Keep quiet is a ticking time bomb. If you don't declare and say if anything is to happen to you in camp, and when there's any investigation being conducted into the in-camp injury, you will share partial responsibility since you don't declare.

I had never heard of genuine cases go DB before. Unless that guy is fake and the memo state malingering. Just get memo from specialist see MO....
Thanks again.
I followed the advices in the forum here instead of my friend's advice. I went to polyclinic today because of the symptoms getting stronger through time. I went through ECG and xray. It was my first time in my life. The ecg result made me scared. The first thing I saw on the ECG paper was "-Abnormal ECG-". The sentences above that phrase has soome numbers and text which I don't understand. There's "something-elevation suggest acute pericar-something with many dots then complicated numbers & words" and others along with this sentence. The doctor told me it's very concerning and he explained the curve in the red graph. He refered me to A & E with "urgency: immediate". They did some tests and refer me to a heart specialist. It was quite a scary today, but I'm thankful to know it early. It was my first experience taking tests like this. I feel like I overcome my lifelong phobia of going checkups.
My heart specialist appointment is after my army medical screening appointment. Can I give the memo to CMPB after my army medical screening date or must it be during the screening day?

Good.
As mentioned above, it's better if you can get to re-schedule the specialist appointment before the CMPB checkup, and therefore submit the memo on the day itself for better and faster processing to determine your PES.
Otherwise, call CMPB @ 6373 1340 to request another PES review (for Pre-Enlistees after CMPB Checkup).
