I am currently undergoing my bmt and what I realised is that my pre-existing red-green colour vision deficiency has affected me in some aspects of my training such as the live firing. During the night shoot, I could not see the blinking red lights at all! All I saw was a patch of darkness. So yeah, naturally I missed my targets and got screwed quite badly lar...May need to go for reshoot somemore.
I feel really stupid saying this but I DO have an official notification stating that I have red green colour vision deficiency from the Health Promotion Board (Student Health Centre) but I forgot to bring it along with me when I went for my medical checkup last year.
So the question is, if I were to go for a medical review (with the official letter this time) to down pes, what are my chances? And what pes am I most likely to go to
Pes C2 is likely....
Hi thanks for the reply!
So what is the life of Pes C2 like? Also, how do I book an appointment for medical review? Do I need to contact cmpb?

Call up your unit Chief Clerk and request to see MO...Pes C2 is likely to be a clerk or storeman in the Army....if you got posted to SCDF, you may be trained as a rescuer....
Hi Guys,
I just went for a knee operation (debridement of lateral meniscus). In this case, will I be C9 or still be my last pes status(C2L2). Thx.

If u NSmen? doesn't matter c9 or c2 both u no need to take IPPT.
Nope, regular actually.

Well for regular, C2 u are required to take AAFT, mainly they replaced the 2.4 km run with either swimming or cycling.
Any form of downgrade is possible....the most important is to get the specialist's memo....then show it to your camp MO. They will schedule a medical board and thus downgrade your PES status....![]()
Hi everyone I started a new topic about this but response is slow so i'll try my luck here!
Before I start i'll give some background information on
my less than ideal army life so far.. within the first 4weeks of BMT I was
placed out of training due to a stress fecture on my left femur. I moped around
camp in crutches for about a week until I was put on medical leave. When I went
to see the M.O, he was initially going to put me on 5 weeks attend c since I was
going to be on crutches for another 5 weeks. He then told me that he forgot that
the maximum period on medical leave for bmt is 2 weeks, so he gave me 2 weeks
mc, and when I go back to tekong, see him and get an extension. That's all fine
and dandy, but the thing is if I get an extension for another 2 weeks, it
overlaps with my company's POP date. So what I was wondering is,
-if I
get the extension, what happens then? Do I have to attend the POP or POC
whatever it is?
-When I receive my exension, do I basically just pack up
all my things and return the store items and head home?
- Is the M.O
likely to grant the extension? (only applies if I don't see the same
M.O)
some other relevant things I've also been wondering are:
-
What likely PES will I be downgraded to, and will it be permanant or temporary
given my situation?
- Likely vocations?
- I'll probably have to
recourse bmt, so when will I have to recourse given my situation? I was told by
my specialist that my injury will take about 3 months to fully
recover.
Thank you for taking the time to read my lengthy post!

Most likely u will be downgraded temporarily to C2 or C9 then posted out to a "clerical unit" or a "storeman unit"....then later u shall be notifed to re-course your BMT...

Don't worry as long u gt hypertension should be PES C to E range.
Ur temp status might become permanent so MO did not say anything same pes mah only permanent.
Hi,
Nsman here as well..obese and have hypertension for more than 12-14 years now and under hypertension medication. Few years back diagnosed with diabetes by polytechnic doctor..now my family doctor given metformin to assist in my condition, but blood sugar not well control too.. I am currently in Pes B and in combat vocation. Would like to know as a reference if my condition warrant me to any permanent downgrade or only a Temp Downgrade?
Hello Gentleman!
Would need your advice here! I am posted to 3 GUARDS for Guards Conversion Course as a SPEC.
I am being diagnosed with Cholenergic Urticaria and have gotten 2 Memos from the Specialist at Changi General Hospital. Please kindly advice whether I will be deem to downgrade to what PES? Many thanks!
Letter 1:
Above patient is diagnosed with miliaria (sweat rash). His rash will flare with exertion and excessive sweating. Have given symptomatic treatment but should avoid triggers (exertion/excessive sweating/heavy uniform.
Letter 2:
This patient has been under our care for heat induced malaria, aggravated especially after outfield exercises. He also have definite evidence of physical (cholenergic) urticaria induced by exercise: after a route march.
There is good grounds for him to be medically reviewed and I suggest that he be referred to the Medical Board for this to be reviewed. He has been given Loratadine 10mg to be taken prior to exercise.

With support of the specialist memos, it's within PES C range, with excuse uniform.

Bring all the supporting documents such as memos and reports.
With support of these documents, it's within PES C range.
Given the long period of medication and the medical conditions combined, it's most likely to be a permanent downgrade.
Please be advised to do whatever the doctors tell you to do such as controlled diet and gradual exercises if you want to live longer, fuller and healthier.
Dear EAC.
Thanks for Prompt Reply :)
I also have Allergic Rhinitis Problem.Got a Memo from the ENT Specialist as well indicating i am undergoing treatment. Will I be eligible for "stay-in"? What PES will I get in this case? Appreciate for your response
The memo says: Treatment as per Allergic Rhinitis. On flixsonex not better. Started on course of nasonex +nasal domche. Patient claims he is sensitive to outfield environment, is keen for memo to SAF requesting possible downgrading. Please assist if necessary

Get the doctor to write you a memo and then show it to your superiors.

Bring all the supporting documents such as memos and reports for all these conditions combined.
With support of all 3 memos combined, it's most likely to be within C9 to E range.
For the request of stay out, you are advised to ask the MO humbly to see if it can be included in the case statement for submission to Medical Board for approval.

If they still ask you to do IPPT, just shoot them this question, "If you
drop dead while running, who is FULLY responsible? Are you willing to 100%
guarantee what you said by asking me to do IPPT despite my serious lung infection of pneumonia on paper in black and white? I know that I can file an official in-service training injury report found in the GOM directive if I suffer any injury/ relapse again to claim monetary compensation from Mindef.

No need lah, report sick and ask MO to give you excuse IPPT as and when. Should solve the problem.
