Extract from www.mindef.gov.sg/nsmen:
It is crucial that you update your NS HRCs if you develop a new medical condition or if an existing medical condition has worsened, which may affect your ICT performance. This is so that arrangements will be made for you to attend a medical review at the SAF medical centre to assess your fitness condition for NS.
You MUST bring along all your investigation results and memorandums from your external physician or specialist during your medical review. You may be given a medical certificate for ICT deferment, be scheduled for a medical board to downgrade you if your medical condition is significant, or be referred to a restructured hospital for further examination depending on the outcome of your medical review.
If your medical condition is deemed suited for ICT participation by the medical officer, you will then be allowed to attend ICT.
FYI, PES is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PULHHEEMS.
1) Go to Public Hospital / Private Specialist.
Note: You will be classified as a subsidised patient if your first visit is via:
2) Consult specialist, and do whatever medical check ups required. E.g. physical exam, blood test, x-ray, CT scan, MRI scan.
3) Specialist gave a finalised clinical diagnosis.
4) Get the specialist to write you a memo which is to be given to SAF MO. Those who can and are willing to spend some more money can get him/her to write you a specialist report, which is more precise and detailed.
Note: For not to waste time and money, please be more direct yet humble. Request the specialist to write aboutreviewing of PES and medical board / anything specific such as any excuses to your conditions.
5) Book an medical review appointment using theeHealth module @ www.ns.sg (for NSman Reservists).
Just go down to your camp medical centre (for NSFs).
Call CMPB @ 6373 1340 to request another PES review(for Pre-Enlistees after CMPB Checkup).
6) Make a trip down to the respective unit camp medical centre. Give the MO whatever supporting documents you have in hand. E.g. Specialist memo/report (most usually the case and highly recommended), x-ray films, CT/MRI scan report, blood investigation lab report... etc.
7) MO will decide whether you are deemed eligible for KIV downgrade, according to the criterias set in the "PES Bible" directive. E.g. Diagnosis, Extent of Diagnosis, Degree of Diagnosis/Injury/Illness/Disease...etc.
8) If deemed so, you will sign an acknowledgement notice of Medical Board, whereby your case statement is prepared for review discussion at the monthly medical board meet (usually at the Formation/Division HQ) with another NSF CPT MO and the Chairman (SAF Regular Medical Doctor of MAJOR rank or above). Your Medical Board result will be post mailed to you by your respective NSHRC (Formation NS Hub).
Time and time again, the questions for Medical Review (Downgrade) is repetitive. Therefore, this serves as a general SOP for Medical Board.

NSmen must update their NS HRCs if they should develop any new medical condition or if their existing medical condition has worsened which might affect their ability to perform their duties during ICT. Arrangements will then be made for them to attend a medical review at the SAF medical centre to assess their fitness for NS.
The NSmen MUST bring along all investigation results and memorandums from his external physician/specialist during the medical review. Depending on the outcome of the medical review, the NSman may be given a medical certificate to defer him from ICT, be scheduled for a medical board to downgrade him if his medical condition is significant, or referred to a restructured hospital for further investigation. In the event that the medical officer determines that the NSman’s medical condition will not affect his ability to participate in the ICT, he will allow the NSman to attend the ICT.

Hi, im awaiting my date for my NS medical. I suffer from allergic rhinitis, i have a moderate allergic reaction to grass/pollen/cockroaches and a low reaction to dustmites. It is quite annoying suffering from allergic rhinitis as when i wake up in the morning i will start to sneeze every so often for the whole day which also causes me to be restless and giddy. I have been living overseas for a couple of years and got a bloodtest report from my doctor showcasing what i am specifically allergic to and how severe each one.
I will be going to a specialist soon here in Singapore to do all the relevant test and also get a memo. I was wondering what PES status i would likely get. I have been getting mixed responses by people about what Pes status i would likely get. Most people i talked to are my uncles and also my cousins whom are currently serving they have said that i will be in PES C. While reading on the internet i have read that i would be in PES B. Could you clarify this for me. Thanks.

Hi, i am currently in the BMT(Leadership batch) phase with a pes status of B (can't remember L what). I'm on status now with excuse from boots for 2 months (OOT pending)
So my problem now is that i am suffering from tailor bunion (a lump of bone "popping" out of my little toe) and it's giving me pain whenever i don on the boots or any hardcovered shoes for that matter. I've been referred to a specialist for an appointment to review on my condition. Base on your experience, what PES status will i get?
Probably excuse boots for a few months, pending hospital specialist diagnosis.

Got hospital specialist memo, got talk...
No hospital specialist memo, no talk...
Hi,
I went for a pes review in May.
CMPB then sent me down to the general hospt for a checkup and now i'm subsequently going there for treatments and reviews. The report has been sent to CMPB in early July.
However, my pes status has been stucked at D for almost 2-3 months. I called the NS hotline like multiple times already to ask about it, but there's no convincing reply at all. Just keep asking me to wait.
Is it possible for me to just call MCC hotline directly and book a pes medical review directly with the MO and pyschiatrist itself? Cause now the pes status on the website puts, Pes D till December.
*And if im right, the last enlistment date for BMT is in nov this year right...? don't wanna waste a year man!
Please help thanks.

When cmpb request for a report, they usually get the hospt to fax to them?
Please call the hotline for a direct and official answer.

Hi guys,
Need some advice here.
Am suffering from right heel pain, especially every morning when I just wake up. Prolong walking and fast walking also leads to my right heel pain. Before the pain occurred in June, I was doing 10km marathons, jogging regularly and lifting weights at the gym. Told my IPPT in early July, and stopped jogging and gym altogether since then.
Recently, just got referred from polyclinic->orthopaedic->foot care and limb design specialist. And bought the special sole for my feet. Its been about 3months since it the pain started, and have reservist in early Dec. Specialist cannot predict when will recover fully, have to avoid jogging and lifting weights at all.
Have an appointment for review at orthopaedic 2 weeks before my ICT in early Dec, and was wondering IF the pain still persist,
1) will it be too late to inform NS about this medical condition?
2) what kind of status will NS MO give?
3) able to down pes for this situation?
4) if down pes, still can stay in the same unit?
Thanks for reading and advices!
1. Just ask hospital specialist to issue MC to cover ICT period. Probably excuse RMJ (Run, March, Jump) and lower limbs activities during ICT.
2. Then also request for a specialist memo, then please submit the hospital specialist memo to the camp doctor to assess and process for PES medical review.
3. Most likely only Att B with temporary excuses for a few weeks, still fit for light duties.
4. Most likely it's still among the NS units within the same camp. If not, it's ever better to just internal transfer within the same NS unit (ORD until phased into MR (MINDEF Reserve)). Isn't less administrative paperwork for NS unit, the better it will be for S1 Manpower branch?
