Hi,
I have a sesamoid bone fracture and its been 6 months, my current MO keeps telling me it takes 3-4 weeks to heal each time i see him even though i had a specialist memo to back me up, just asking what pes would i eventually be and can he actually just keep postponing me indefinitely? Aside, i recently seen a internal medicine specialist to be diagnosed with Essential Tremor, he referred me to a a neurologist. Just wondering, would i down pes because of this? Furthermore, im beeing revocated after i found out of this problem, would the internal medicine specialist memo suffice at the MO?

No specialist memo, no talk.
Got specialist memo, got talk.

I'm temp PES E9L9 for 6 months. I've a few qns...
A) Will I be going thru a 5.5 day or 4 week induction programme? what will I be expecting inside?
B) The letter does not specify what to bring at all. Does that mean I don't have to stay in? If not, how long will I be confined and when will be my first bookout?
C) What is unit HQ base? Where is it and what vocation will I most likely be doing?

sesmaoid bone fracture? Hardly. Cose the fracture will heal up eventually. At most a temp Pes C9L9 for a year, then upgrade back to Pes B. Unless, you have undergone a surgery with added screw to hold the fracture in place.
Tremor, most likely you gain excuse arms, you can be reposted to be a Pes B storeman. The tremor may be caused by an injury to the spine, or nerve somewhere (which is very hard to diagnosis.) If you have not been diagnoised with essential tremor as early as childhood, most likely it is cause by an injury which is temporary.
Hi eac, just to ask since my last post in '10 (when I was still a NSF) wasn't really answered.
I ORD-ed the mid of last year with a PES status of C9L2 (did ankle ligament reconstruction surgery) but still with a post of rifleman.
Just a question, is it a valid posting for me? i.e. c9l2 = front line rifleman?
Thanks!

As this vocational issue has become more of an administrative matter than a medical one, therefore please contact your NS Unit's Chief Clerk should you have the camp's direct telephone number. Otherwise, please call 1800-3676767 to tell the customer service officer to contact the NS Unit to link up with you.

It will be great if its an admin issue. However right before I ORD-ed, my unit CSM told me that C9L2 is definitely deployable in the frontline and I was asked to operate in a infrantry rifle section ("chiong sua like other Pes A and B") during ATEC.
So my concern now is whether my CSM is right in this matter? Especially since I got a infantry NS unit posting and I downgraded long before I ORD-ed and not after.
Thanks for answering my queries.

Please read the very 1st page of this PES topic thread for the PES definitions.
It will be more better to contact the NS unit's S1 Manpower branch personnel such as Chief Clerk/ DyS1/ S1 Manpower Officer to negotiate for a Battalion/ Brigade HQ posting.

I wish to know what does that means. Thanks.
Some people are G6PD. Their blood is not good. Can result in fainting. So can downgrade. Cannot eat broad beans. You can google for more information. It is quite a common blood disorder.
I just went through the medical check up last week. All PES A except when it come to blood. "Lipids" aka High blood cholesterol is the reason. Currently I PES D. What PES will I possiblely end up with? My ratio is 5.00 (4.51) and my total is 5.35 (<5.18), with LDL at 3.52(3.37). Tips on diet to reduce it before I go NS will be helpful too at the same time. [Beside regular exercise, and this is also partially to my genes I think since my father and grandma got blood related problem]

My shortage of breath could be link to my lung, because my grandfather die lung cancer at 40 years old. Btw, does family history can be also include for down PES? My father side has this blood clot problem at hand that waking up in the morning unable to open the hand (usually on master hand and 5 fingers are too stiff and lock in position). I now PES B and cannot cope with IPPT and Infantry training. Thanks.
if you're worried about your health, just take some time to make a trip to your local polyclinic to ask for a referral letter to make an appointment for a public hospital's specialist outpatient clinic under subsidised rate.
please refer to this guideline for more detailed information:

ORD = get back NRIC = civilian, so you need to pay at the subsidised rate at the polyclinic/ public hospital.
since if you don't even want to spend this little money to find out more/ have a hospital diagnosis about your health status from a medical professional, then you should forget all about this proper PES downgrade process.

Platoon mate downPES, because of review by the camp doctor's recommendation, he was diagnosed with heat stroke from route march when longer than 4km in BMT.
His case was medically clear cut as deemed fit and so, hence no need hospital memo.

I wonder can I fall into this situation because I go specialist before (Colorectal specialist), but the specialist just don't give me MRI or CT scan. And I know those are very expensive (MRI=$1000+?) which I think specialist is not a good way to down PES. Can down PES if faint too much from training, with OC recommendation?

Please be informed that once you have gotten your NRIC back after ORD, you are no longer a NSF [NS (Full-time)], but a NSman (Civilian/ Citizen-Soldier).
What's written in the guide obviously is the most direct, official, relevant, efficient and effective way to address a PES Review.
Excuse me, if you don't believe what's written, it's up to you.
If you think you can get it done on your own by your way, go ahead. You will end up back to square one on the same spot.
And by the way, an OC can't recommend a PES downgrade when he isn't a medical professional with a doctor's practising licence. He can only refer the person to the medical centre for a PES review, pending approval by the MO.
No hospital specialist memo, no
talk.

After ORD already, I actually never though of down PES as long as my unit don't go fieldcamp or force us to pass IPPT. Taking the IPPT to me is waste of time as I will never pass and I don't mind go RT, got free handsome PTI act as instructor is bonus (although if inside aircon gym is better). If ICT is about going rifle range means got free money! I just don't like to run and stay in outfield overnight (I don't sleep on mud or with insects, unless they give us sleep on training shed). Does getting long term statues need memo too?

It all depends on what's written in the specialist memo.
So just hand it in.
I'm currently still on Temp Pes C2L9 as a NSman.
Pes Status expiring in late June 2012 this year.
I got a Memo from MO (SGH) for recommendation of DownPes in Dec 2011, which i took to MO in SAF to see.
His response is that I'm still covered under Temp status and there's no reason for DownPes or to convert it to Perm Pes Status.
My Medical Record: Degenrative Disc (Mild Slip Disc) - MRI Verified
Knee Issues : X-Ray shows my knee cartilage is worn off even before I enlisted. (Frequent Knee pain from prolong standing in 1 position else sharp pain etc)
NSF Excuse Status: From 3rd week of enlistment till ORD all excused.
Question: So how do I get a permanent downpes?
i got a Specialist appt with SGH this April 2012.
So what do I do?
Do i request for a rescan of MRI to validate my Spine issue.
