General Election 2011: Why NS? [Public Nuisance]

This should be a democratic forum where forummers are free to express their views without restrictions, and contribute their opinions and ideas for the betterment of mankind! So, forummers please give your support on "Freedom of Speech on NS" by creating another similar thread if moderator irrationally and indiscriminately locks this thread again. I'm not against NS, please don't be mistaken. In fact, I'm totally for NS, being a loyal patriot myself. But I'm asking is that NS should be only done fulltime for 1 year only. As I've laid out in previous threads; BMT(2 mths), Vocation Training(2 mths), Unit attachment(8 mths). This is more than enough to train a good soldier. As for command roles like officers and sergeants could be offered to regulars who have opted to sign on as a career soldier. With reasonable a pay package, there will be many people who would want to sign on as a career. No staffing problem at all. Reservist In-camp training of 1 or 2 weeks per year can be used for refresher training. What you have learnt from 1 year of fulltime training in soldering will always be ingrained in your mind and not be forgotten easily. A compensation for a 1 year fulltime NS would be to perhaps increase the reservist in-camp training cycles. I'm sure this is quite a fair and reasonable deal. Hopefully, with massive support and highlighting, the policy-makers will immediately review their NS policy and implement the 1 year fulltime National Service asap. Thank you very much!

then 2 weeks?

then abolish?

it's only yours because you can defend it... is this concept alien to you or did you choose to forget it?

this... is my freedom of speech... won by my blood and sweat and broken body from my time in NS...

Erratum: Sorry typo error, should be below:- BMT (2 mths), Vocation Training(2 mths), Unit attachment(8 mths). Total 12mths = 1 year of National Service. Nothing less, nothing more! Hope I've made myself very CLEAR!!! Thanks!!!
