Hello everyone in SGFORUMS. Does anyone know which units in SAF require their NSF clerks to stay in? Because i am very determined to be a stay-in unit clerk. Thanks :)
u can chose which units to be posted to meh. CPC randomly post u to a unit one leh.
Wad pes status r u? E or C?
hello. thanks for the prompt reply. i am currently a pes E Administrative Support Assistant (ASA).
mostly stay in clerks are from combat units.. like armour..
Yes, because armour camps are located in the very ulu parts of singapore. But there is indented transport for admin and non uniformed staff also.
Does anyone know what should I do in order to get myself posted to a stay-in unit successfully? Thanks :)
You can't! Its more random than drawing the weekly toto numbers multiplied by the chance you can ballot for a BTO flat and get a hit at it.
are there any other units which require their NSF clerks to stay in?

Even if we tell you, seriously, what good does it do you?
You have absolutely no chance of choosing your unit barring truly exceptional reasons.

Well, I see so many desperate to get stay out, yet you wanna get stay in? It's random, but if u go to a combat unit, most likely you get to stay in. But of cos HQ like CMPB, Mindef, Air bases and etc, clerks stay out unless on duty. I would advice you to get enlisted 1st see how, who knows maybe you get posted to a camp near your home so no need to stay in. The worst case scenario here, is you get to a camp very far away from home and stay out. But if combat unit, you can speak to your chief clerk request for a bunk, maybe due to the distance you travelling to camp they'll let you.
If you want to stay in, it can be arranged with your superiors if there is a valid reason.

When I compare to where I work now, they don't suck as much.

yah haha lol
I have served NS as an ASA for one year now. Currently, I am facing some problems with my family and so would like to request to be posted to a stay-in unit so that I can stay away from my family problems.

running away won't solve the problem.

The only thing I can say is that you can be granted stay-in status only for truly exceptional cases. Whether or not you can be granted that is entirely the prerogative of your Chief Clerk, or whoever it is that's in charge of you.
So, like I said, even if we were to tell you which units are stay-in, you don't really have a say in which unit you can go to. All you can do is to approach your Chief Clerk.
May i know what are some of the truly exceptional cases which one can be granted stay-in status?
Facing them also won't solve the problem :)

Gosh, I don't know - something like, your house went up in flames? You recently broke your leg and it would be too difficult for you to travel long distances regularly?
All I can say is that 'some problems with my family' hardly sounds like compassionate grounds for stay-in status.
Seriously, just go and talk with your Chief Clerk, for goodness' sake.
