I am probably enlisting sometime later this year.
Earlier this year, I accidentally injure my back. I have no idea how it
happened (I just slept, and wokeup with a really terrible pain). I can
barely walk and sit and went to the A&E. They pumped me up with
painkillers and arranged for a visit with a specialist.
I have since recovered but the 'thing' is still there. I can't get into
certain positions and carrying heavy things will cause a relapse.
The specialist that attended to me told me it might be a minor slip
disc. He told me that a MRI can be quite expensive and wrote me a memo
to give to CMPB, requesting them to help pay for it.
After several email exchanges with CMPB, I head down to see their MO.
The MO asked me a bunch of weird questions like whether my specialist
has white hair or black hair, or whether his jacket is buttoned or open
and stuffs like that. Than he told me that SAF won't pay for my MRI
because I haven't enlist yet. He told me to just accept whatever PES
status they gave me and request for MRI after I enlist.
I found out recently that I was PES BP (I am obese). Since I am not too
familiar with how NS works, I would like to know when and how and whom
should I approach to request for MRI once I enlist? Is not I chow keng
or what, but its my back that I am talking about here.
Once enlist report to tekong medical centre to tell MO ur problem. MO will refer u to government hospital. U will do ur MRI there.
Cool, there's a MO there? Would it be one of the 'stations' that I must pass through at the 1st day or I have to make it there myself on my own?
