  Promotion for the NSF is to recognise his performance and past contributions during NS. Due to the onerous nature of duties for those deployed in combat vocations, they are promoted earlier than those in service support vocations.
  
  The SAF regularly reviews the promotion guidelines, the last revision to the enlistee promotion guidelines being in 2011 and 2013. Currently, NSFs may be promoted to the Corporal (CPL) rank between the 12th and 18th month of service. The minimum service for promotion to Corporal First Class (CFC) has also been shortened in the 2013 revision. Aimed at according timely recognition to our servicemen.
  
  We would also like to highlight that promotion in rank is not an entitlement: servicemen would have to meet the stipulated minimum criteria to be eligible. Unit Commanders are also given the discretion to assess if a serviceman who qualifies for promotion is deserving of the promotion at the given point in time, after considering the operational requirements of the unit.

  I don't remember the exact period and it might vary between units but I am pretty sure you are entitled to get CFC as long as you put in the effort and request it 1/2 yr before ORD. ;)

  lcp is around 4 months after u get ur private rank and cpl should be around your 1 year period i believe.

  maybe now faster promotion already, and cfc is about 6 months before you ord.

  I'm graded PesC9L2. Is the promotion duration different from *PesC1/B2 and PesC2? So,even PesC9L2 can get CFC?

  Nowadays all serve 2 years, is rank so important to you?

  Pes C can go up to 3SG, so CFC is also not a problem.

  Yes, it is possible.

  But you will have to fight for it, or hope your 'boss' will push it for you.
