Warning + Fine.
If you tell them you purposely default it because you can't be bothered, then they may give you 3 days free holiday.
You can't defer a mobilisation - unless you're overseas for long-term.
Months earlier, they had already informed you, and you're to make yourselve available. Even if you're studying, or whatever, no excuses.
If mobilisations can be siamed with a fine...then the whole SAF is not credible as a 24/7 ready force already. You'll be charged and most likely given a light detention sentence for the first offence. Subsequently, u'll get it more and more..from days to months to year...multiplied..
Failure to report for mobilisation is a very troublesome thing, there's a system in place for your detachment and Area I/Cs to visit your home and find you, call your mobile etc.The I/Cs have to visit your home, serve your family a written notice, etc.
If you remain uncontactable, an arrest warrant will be issued for the MP to arrest you at your workplace, immigration checkpoints, etc.
So please save everyone the trouble. Don't be a childish kid. More than 500,000 men from the past and current generations have done their duty. Be a man and turn up!
As a NSman, you should know that uncontactable/change handphone without update etc. are no excuses and by themselves are chargeable offences.
My understanding is that if u are overseas then u don't have to report for mobilsation. So no need to defer wat.
