What will SAF do to try and retain the people who try and break the contract?
Apart from returning the big lump sum they got when signing on, what else will happen to them?
not only that also the salaries paid out so far.
Dun think they would try to retain people, they will always have unlimited supplies of impressionable youth wanting to sign on SAF.
On top of that there is the whole issue of clearing your remaining NS liability. I know one regular who broke his own contract after several years and still had to serve out a full 2-year NSF liability after that.
I suppose this applies if you break your contract within a specified time limit.

from what i know 1 NSF day served=2 regular day served under this minimum term of engagement.
Now that NSF no longer 2.5 yrs but 2. why is it still 5 yrs not 4?
may have got to do with the lump sum involved too...
anw for most vocations, 5 years is the minimum.. some vocations even require u to have a minimum serving period from the time u qualified in your vocation.
no la, for those poly sign on bond, the contract is 5 years, but after the 4th year you can opt for early release.
yup, but have to see whether the CO is keen though, esp when he need to consider manpower whether enough anot. though support workcentres are more easy on this, as they get more newly passed-out trainees as compared to operation workcentres.
My advice to everyone is NOT to sign on any uniformed groups.
I rather be (at lowest) a mcdonalds staff clearing trays than to have a "career" in the army or any uniformed groups.
you know what i have people saying that they rather go hungry than to sign on.
for those who surf 3in1kopitiam, u should know who is madmansg right.
