Hi, a NSMen here,
I'm someone got my down pes memo (recommended. perm down pes) from my first visit to a specialist very early this year before my eventual ORD late this year.
As the final oversea excercise is just 2-3 mths away, I decided to not show my down pes memo to MO as my platoon mates and commanders have persuaded me to only show it after the oversea excercise. I felt it was reasonable to bare the pain for a final outfield.
After the oversea excercise ended, and we are very near to ORD, i approach the MO and show my memo, despite the fact that a few mths have passed from the date printed on the letter, the MO doesn't seem to mind that and gave me a form to fill up and told me he will recommend me to be down to C2L3.
About 2-3 weeks after that I ORD.
However it's now December and I have yet to know any news on is the down pes successful or not. I went to NS portal and see nothing, my pes status is still the old PES B L1.
Do anyone know how long medical board handle cases and do they inform orded personnel on their outcome result? Or is my memo too old to be used since I handed it in quite late?
normally it's take abt 1 month waiting time to get to a medical board. If you are downgraded, your clerk should know abt it. If u already ORDed, then maybe you can call your reservist clerk.
O dear..it's more than 3 months...But even if fail do they notify you?
It would be costly to go for gov hospital for another memo from specialist again. :(

Then maybe u should check with your unit clerk 1st.
All right. Will try, hope for the best.
i think you didnt complete all the pes downgrading before you ord.
I call tell you that your PES status is still B.
Cos if your PES is C2L3.. the IPPT section in ns.sg will put that you are ineligible for IPPT.
Either they lost the document to downgrade you or the medical board rejects your application.
Best to call your reservist unit. I think they will have to arrange you for another medical checkup at MMI before they do the downgrading.
I kena before.... takes about 3-6 months before they complete the process... from arranging you to a new medical review at MMI... to certifying your doctor's memo.. to approval by medical board.
my advice is for u to set up another medical review with MO at ur unit medical center..call ur NS unit to make the appt if u can't do it online..need to do fast cause medical review dates are usually fully booked..i did it last year, now PES F..do the review before ur next ICT
In the first place, you should have done the medical review before you go overseas training. Why? SAF will not pay u a single cent if anything goes wrong during the training. As it is your fault for not reporting to them about your medical status.
It will take very long, 3 months to 6 months for them to process something. Since u have already ORD, so they will put u behind the list, until all the active NSFs have been boarded, then it is your turn. So wait long long.
Just reminded me, TS, when u are going to ORD, I'm sure you'll did your ORDed FFI, you should ask then when you'll be medically boarded.
in the first place, your commander would not be so unreasonable to persuade you. Your commander and platoon mates were not the one giving birth and upbringing you. Your injury may aggravate before and during oveasea training. It is good that you share with us your experiences here. May you have a speedy recovery.
Must call up your unit Chief Clerk and arrange for an FFI medical review to see your unit MO. The memo u gave the prev MO should be inside the med docket with your name....they will do the rest....unless the memo was lost???!!!
If the memo was lost, go to your specialist and get another memo then arrange for another FFI medical review.

Wow! PES F ? What's your medical situation?
I only know people with terminal illness eg. incurable cancer, will get PES F.....
Actually if they lose your medical memo, the MO can request for it from the hospital doctor.

I think he meant pending status... but should be PES D?

There is one "Pending Medical Board PES" status. I forgot the alphabet given but I think its D. I get it before.

do u think they will bother to make the request for you? its up to you whether you want to do annual ippt or not.
u want chop chop u do it yourself, unless you can wait.
If someone is excuse uniform, but only PES B, must he go to field exercises in PT attire?

Okay, thanks for the input.
TS, there is always a reasons why ya commanders and platoon mates ask you NOT to show your status before the overseas exercise, so that they dun have to worry about unit manpower during the overseas exercise, in all it's selfish of them to ask you to neglect ya medical status. If anything happens to you, they will be like..."oh okay, noted, i just simply carry on with my life, why bother about this chap". They will not be grateful, they re just using you.
Enough said, is your original memo still around with you? if so start another round of medical review/downgrade with the new reservist unit regardless of outcome of the previous one in the active unit. SAF admins is forever cock up so might as well start all over again, in fact you wun have this problem in the first place should u ignore your commanders and platoon's plead, you are too soft hearted. You have to change this mindset of yours as it's quite likely that you will bring it over to your civil life.
After that if you find that your reservist MO side taking too long, just keep perstering them with calls, sometimes it's needed to get things done with the SAF.
