Hi, this is the situation which I am pretty puzzled about.
I am currently vocationally trained as a GE storeman and I have L5S1 Degenerated Disc Diease and I have been downgraded since Sept last year.
Lately, during a Overseas FFI, which I have failed, the MO who failed me mentioned that my condition is serious and wonders why am I a storeman when I have a diploma.
I am under a tyrant RQ. He wrote an Excused Heavy Loads MC for 3 months for me to pass it to my QM then highlighted to me that if I am still being forced to carry loads of more than 5kg at any one time I am to feedback to him that my QM is not obeying orders.
As for my QM, he still puts me on jobs that requires moving of heavy objects like SAF cupboards and drawers, and simply just tell me to watch my back without re-allocating me to do jobs that are free of physical loads.
I then feedback to the MO about this and he told me that actually for my condition I should be "C9L3 Permanently Excused Heavy Loads" permanently rather than just C9L3 because C9L3 still consist of other conditions not limiting to the spine. He then said to me that there might have been a mistake over at Tekong medical centre when the MOIC downgraded me and forgotten to add in a permanent status.
He then told me to get a stronger-worded memo from my specialist the next round and told me to put the word permanently into the memo so that he can answer to his MOIC.
Also, he told me that with this he can help me to be revoked to be a clerk.
How true is this? It really happened, and I got the letter already but I am constantly wondering has God sent an angel to SAF?

It maybe true, because, with the new letter, the MB can advice for you to be revocated also include the excuse heavy load. As for is it the MOIC fault not to add in the excuse heavy load maybe yes maybe no, because MOs had no power where you'll be revocate. So even with the added excuse heavy load and revocate, you maybe revocated but as a clerk? No one can be sure.
I was in the exact same boat as you.
First off, I have multiple level of disc bulges. Luckily I went for surgery and recovered after that. But my doc mentioned that people with slipped disc tend to relapse. just a matter of time.
That was before I enlisted.
Went for my medical at cmpb and they gave me a pes status of PES C9L3 permanant excuse heavy load.
But I was still posted as a GE storeman after my bmt. I asked around and all I can tell you is that it is not a 'mistake' when assigning who gets what vocation. It's just that the dept doing this job is fielded by a bunch of incompetent baboons who don't really give a sh*t about what status you are on.
this is further supported by the fact that I see ALOT of storemen with slipped discs, but lppl still carry heavy things.
Of course being dissatisfied with this, i went to my camp MO. He himself was also puzzled how come someone like me was a storeman(bear in mind, I RECOVERED).
this is where things veered slightly from yours.
My MO immediately whipped out this form, filled it up and pass it to me, asking me to pass it to my S1.
It was a revocation letter, specifically stating that I should be revocated to be a clerk.
Got approved and i served my term as a clerk till i ord-ed.
I can just tell you this bro, people like us who suffer from back problem, SAF doesn't gives a damn. for reasons unknown to me, they think that the spine is like their fingernail; something that is not needed nor important.
My advice to you is, fight for your revocation, do whatever it takes to get revocated. if all else fails, today they ask u carry things, u carry, but tmr u go take mc. don't care. if your RQ or QM ask you why u keep taking mc, just say u keep asking me carry heavy load, go home cannot walk.
WHATEVER IT IS, YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE A STOREMAN. PERIOD.
spend a little time and probably pissing a few people off(they deserve it afterall) you will most probably not even see after you ord for awhile for your spine,
or a LIFETIME OF PAIN AND SUFFERING AFTER YOU ORD.
Your choice.
Note: I may sound harsh but really i just cannot stand people who don't know how to do/don't effing give a damn about their jobs or have the mentality that just because you are NSF, means EVERYTIME YOU GO SEE DOCTOR MEANS IS CHAO KENG.
No offense to those who are genuinely smart and deserves their ranks/posts/vocations. peace.
