GE 2011: Why NS? Cut Down NS to win votes? Sure win GE seat?

I hope that a short NS time for male citizens, such as 15 to 18 months, should be a good topic in the next GE. Any comments? I probably will write and meet my MP regarding this.

it takes 9 - 12 mths to train those to be in sect commanders and so on, it's not enough.

i hope it extend to 3 years like israel. :> we need more active cheap troops next time can take over the regular police job also. ask them to walk here and there at the MRT. Be proud of Army man.

If govt seriously look into reducing the ns to 1 yr, I will give my vote to pap. I will ask my family to give their vote to pap. I will ask my neighours (have sons) to give vote to pap.
Reduce ns to 12 to 15 mths.

Yes, mindef or ministers shlould know that we are not in the 60s or 70s.They should know that bonding the boys with 2 yrs of ns will do spore no good at all.
The boys need to come out of ns and join the working world. If not, the boys will be forever lagging behind the world.
Do Spore want that to happe?
Reduce to 12 to 15mths and your votes will increase.. Every familes will support pap.

I think it is IMPORTANT to let all candidates in next GE know that they must look at this topic carefully before getting the votes. For every NS man, he has family members who will go for voting. This is the reason I am going to write to my MP to tell him that he has to think about this issue.

With Immediate Effect:
Cut down NS duration for males to 1 year, compensate by conscripting females for NS for 6 months only.
This is a win-win situation, best compromise, in terms of manpower utilisation without compromise to security.
Please put this to debate! Urgent!
