Hi, I'm in PES C9L9 and have just completed my 4 week BMT in tekong. Posted to Supply and Transport Centre (STC) in Sembawang.
1) Would like to ask about how life is like in STC, is it basically all lectures, tests and practicals?
2) I'm also a reseach assistant trainee in STC. Any idea what this vocation entails?
Thanks guys for your help! :)
good life
Haha in what sense? From what I see, life in STC is worse than tekong leh.... Maybe becausei was only there for one afternoon.
so you r going to be a driver? yes? no?
and whats a reseach assistant trainee.... since when SAF needs NSF to carry out "research"?
if u r a driver.. then very very good life..
more pay, free licence
How is STC worse than Tekong?
I don't know leh.... Not driver. STC commanders seem more strict than those in tekong. But has anyone been posted to STC as a recuit or have any idea what's life there as a recuit? Thanks :)
Those who are undergoing courses at STC after 4wks of modified Tekong BMT are Pes C personnel who are allocated service support vocations because of their PES status which do not qualify them for combat or combat support vocations.
Basically these NSF personnel would know their respective allocated vocations after 4wks at Tekong, and they would be taking up courses according to their allocated vocations at STC.
Whether "research assistant" or "intelligience assistant" or "supply assistant" or whatever, they are nothing more than a branch of ASA (Admin Support Asst), in other words, just clerical support staff who are posted to support admin work on the various brances of service, be it intelligence or research or stores supply or what not. They would be trained to be aware of the services that they are to support, that's all. Simply clerical staff.
Thanks for your input :) But only a very small portion of my friends posted to STC are made to be research assistants. The bulk of people are just stated as ASAs. So does that mean that research assistants and ASAs train seperately??
i was from STC.. basically good sergeants and good csm.. hahaha... dont worry.. life there is going to be so good! hahahahaha.. at first sound strict lah.. 5 weeks ltr u tell me fun or not there..
Hey... you too? Hmmm... did you see that one guy who had a panic attack? >< Just asking... because if you did then we're in the same place...
Oh really?! Do you mind telling me briefly what's life there like? Heard it's mostly lectures and practicals for our vocatons. Is that true?
To add on to what Splitfire said...
Are there any... well, marches or the usage of 'LBV'?
>> Does anyone have STC's full address? All I remember is Admiralty Road West.
lolx... was at STC for a period... good life... but then was there for course. Been a T'list for months and on course so basically cho bo'ing in there and pass time.
Everytime when you are new they like make life seems miserable... say this and that must follow... must ippt but then... as time goes by... where got time to bother about all those craps...
yup, many of the commanders/senior guys usually tend to be abit guai lan/imposing to newcomers, but as everyone start to integrate, those craps will start to fade away. though the extent may vary on whether u are in a training school/unit or are trainee/passed out/qualified
0530 Reveille
0545 Fall in
0600 5BX
0615 Breakfast
0715 Standby area/bed
0730 First parade
0745 Lessons start
This will be your routine for basically every day of your life there. I spent quite a number of days literally doing nothing in an air-conditioned room when there was supposed to be lessons. The original courses for each of the vocations are much shorter than the five weeks allocated for this vocational BMT, so there will be plenty of time wastage. Your LBV and helmet will be collecting dust under your bed until the final two weeks where they will make you go through a useless Vehicle Immediate Action Drill and if you're lucky, a mock firefight with blank rounds and smoke grenades during the rehearsals and the Passing Out Parade itself.
Also, your CSM is a commando. Great person.
But spitfire already C9 liao...sure excuse 5BX etc etc..
My batch had plenty of C9s and we all did 5BX.
HAHAHA! all i can say is enjoy yourself in STC...
do u need to take the storeman course?
