I heard it is because of the water there, are most of the recruits infected with it? If so, wouldn't the PCs, PSs, etc be also affected?

I got affected by tekong caugh too.
I attend B for many days.
it is due to your physical exertion which you are not used to.. add to that the less-than-hygienic conditions, it takes a toll on the body which weakens the immune system a little...
after that, the body gets used to it and you will be tougher and better for it
When you exercise after a long lay-off (aka no exercise long long), your body's immune system will generally weakened.
During this period, and especially for those wuss who cannot sleep, their body's immune system takes a toll.
When these wuss didnt take care of personal hygiene, eat sufficient fruits and drink water, these conditions will add up to lower the immune system.
So they fall sick lor.
Quick question: does drinking water from the water cooler better than tap water in Tekong?
Not just in Tekong, some units also will have this cough.
Let me tell you, either the CSM never change the water filter until algae is formed and hence defeating the purpose of a water filter or they took out the filter as they were too lazy to change it.
I think no there is no significant difference between the 2 waters, just the temperature.

Actually speaking abt water, they suppose to submit a water sample to test if I'm not wrong every quarter, from several water points/taps.
During my time, there were several cases of food poisoning, due to neligence of this, I was one of them.
Don't know do they still do it now?
I believe tekong cough is due to the water cooler.

The cough is due to land reclamnation nearby. The air is sandy and dusty. When you look around, you will notice a settlement of sand on the surface if it is not clean often.
I just checked, most watercoolers in camps do not have the water filter. So it is no different from the tap. I mean how often do you see your nearest water cooler being serviced? Sometimes the chilling tube is not so cold and yet it is still not being serviced.
Wait a minute, isn't singapore tap water suppose to be mineral added? or so they think.
your PCs and PL Sgts or whatever they are called these days are also drinking from the same taps...
do they also cough?

Everything, they should work together and investigate the cause.

It's tekong specific, other BMT units don't have this problem.
Plus the antibiotics they give are not effective. Start with amoxycilin > upgrade you to something else > get jab from civilian doctor
Will there be any long health effect when you grow old, you got problem due to drinking of tekong water?
