Is there a directive that says or allow us to apply for OFF for A levels exam (am in a non combat vocation)during Ns? If yes which branch should i go to apply for it?
NO. There is no mindef directive that states about exam leave or off for NSF. But there is such a thing for regular.
Ask your boss. Beg him to give "off". Or you can apply normal leave.
There is a directive for them to try to give you exam off. But there is no requirement that they do so.
In other words your commander may deny based on SAF needs. You could end up either spending the day training or watching Defence Watch.
Whether or not you are given leave is the prerogative of your commander.
If he is feeling generous and wants to give leave, then good for you.
If he is feeling stingy or you are needed badly in camp, then too bad for you.
Before you complain, National Service Full-time is exactly what it is: you are a FULL-TIME soldier.
If you want to do anything else on the side, then your superior may close one eye, but don't expect him to bend over backwards to help you.
Oh yeah, if it's important, take leave and get the leave signed and approved as far in advance as possible.
In most camps, off is not signed more than a week in advance.
Off is more perishable and flammable, but that's the way things work.
Depends on Chief clerk or superior one.
