After i Attend C for 1 mth and a half and book in for 2 days i got my posting as Service medic(trainee) at nee soon camp.My pes was e9l9 at the moment cos i fractured my leg that time. The posting letter told me to bring my SAF issued items but never say about my clothes or lbv or helmet or admin tee but ask me bring toiletries
So question is, is this a stay in?i keep calling the number given but nobody pick up also. all 3 numbers and i dun know if i need to bring all my stuff there if its a stay in like my lbv helmet all sets of number 4 uniform
svc medic I don't think need LBV.
for service medics, what i heard from others is that the course is about 3 months and stay-in. you will study 1st aid, basic medical theories and then take a couple of tests such as 1st aid, CPR and AED. and of course, the highlights is the need to poke 18G-sized cannula needles ("yakult straw") into your arms' veins for at least 10 x intravenous (IV) practices provided if the IV needles are "one shot, one kill".
as for what to bring basically, you will need to bring just 2 or 3 sets of uniform as it's stay-in on a 5 days workweek basis and your fieldpack as you need to carry some books/ tutorial notes like a schoolboy to study the medical knowledge.
lucky for you, service medics are excluded from outfield trainings because you are to work in camp medical centres, therefore there is no need to set up tentage for a mobile field clinic station like combat medics.
18G is called yakult straw? whatever happen to the good ole 16G truma cannulas.
No more carry fieldpack alr, they use laptops now.
